Program Planning
In accordance with the Education Bureau's curriculum guidelines, an integrated curriculum is designed based on themes and supplemented by picture books to cater for children's development, needs, interests and abilities, so that they can participate in different activities to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes, and to provide them with a balanced and comprehensive learning experience. Our school makes reference to the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines to enhance children's independent learning and exploration through hands-on and outdoor learning activities according to their physical and mental developmental characteristics and needs. Through the theme-based and spiral learning modes, children learn through play through a variety of teaching and activities.
Through diversified activities, field trips, group activities, simulation games, and creative activities, we cultivate children's active learning, problem-solving, and self-care skills, and learn from practical life experiences. We also emphasize on biliteracy and trilingualism by employing teachers who specialize in English, Mandarin, Religion, and non-Chinese languages to provide a rich language learning environment for our children.
We emphasize on the character development of our children and incorporate elements of character education in our religious curriculum and regular teaching activities to help children develop good and correct values. In addition, we provide children with a well-balanced learning experience to lay a good foundation. In addition, there are orientation days for new students, scouts, and different types of after-school interest classes to support the learning of NCS students and their integration into the community. We also make good use of community resources and participate in community activities to support and broaden children's learning experience, e.g. visiting the Traffic Safety City, Sunny Smile Playground, history museum, supermarket, park and library.
Continuous observation and analysis of each area of learning, supplemented by children's artwork, are used to assess the process of learning effectiveness and the development of children's abilities and attitudes. A "Child Learning Profile" is set up for each child to record, report and analyze his/her learning performance.
The school will comply with theKindergarten Education Curriculum GuidelinesThe (2017) Planning Curriculum will not require children in nursery classes to write in pen and pencil, nor will they be required to do mechanical transcription or drill-based numeracy exercises.
