Program Planning
The school implements a child-centered curriculum with a balanced development of all five subjects. The school adopts a spiral progression schedule, establishes a play-based happy learning, implements a brain potential development program, develops a reading culture, carries out picture book teaching, and strengthens the Chinese and English advanced language courses, especially emphasizing cultural literacy and expanding the world vision of young children.
The school will follow the Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guidelines (2017) in planning its curriculum and will not require children in the Nursery class to write in pen and pencil, nor will they be required to do mechanical copying or drilling calculation exercises.
The school adopts a small class teaching mode, selecting picture books with rich children's literary content as the theme for teaching, conducting thematic studies with life-like and exploratory experiences, and designing activities that emphasize children's individual differences to cultivate their curiosity and active learning; weekly discovery days are set up to enrich children's learning experiences. In the language area, we have specialized teachers, native English-speaking teachers who teach English on a daily basis, and experienced Putonghua teachers who teach Putonghua. In addition, according to the individual differences of the children, we conduct programs to develop their brain potential, including logical reasoning activities with Montessori elements and challenging table games, which also promote the social development of the children; through the children's cooking program, we enhance the children's sense of touch, language, science and food and agriculture education; at the same time, we allow children to get in touch with the nature to build up the spirit of science, and we often arrange outdoor park activities for the children according to their abilities. The school has set up assignments for each grade, in line with the school's overall curriculum policy and teaching progress, and conducts continuous assessment. In addition, the school has a resident social worker to strengthen the care of children and families, cooperates with community organizations to provide support to children and parents according to their needs, and provides adaptation activities for graduating students to articulate with Primary One.
