Program Planning
Starting from 2018, Victoria Education Organization has become the world's first kindergarten provider to collaborate with Project Zero, Harvard University's Graduate School of Education, to develop a curriculum framework for early childhood education that incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects in support of the "Creative Curriculum". "Based on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (EYFS), the educational philosophy of the Creative Curriculum is to enable young children to gain a deeper understanding of the world we live in; to encourage them to think more deeply about the objects and systems they use in their daily lives. Through this study, students at Victoria's educational institutions will develop the enthusiasm and motivation to take ownership of their lives and the ability to make choices that will make a difference in the world.
Our curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary learning because separate and compartmentalized knowledge is difficult to apply in the lives of young children. When the elements of learning such as knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and actions break through the boundaries of domains (subjects), interdisciplinary learning becomes the basis for problem-solving knowledge and abilities in children's daily lives. We pay attention to the wide range of problems in children's daily lives, and make meaningful connections between various kinds of subject knowledge, so that learning is not only life-oriented, but also mutually enriching, and it is easier for children to realize the complex and intricate relationships between things. This allows children to connect the curriculum they are exploring, understand the interconnectedness of different knowledge, increase the meaning, application and efficiency of their explorations, and build up their own knowledge and learning systems. The school actively promotes children's multiple perspectives, critical thinking and problem solving skills, so that children can learn from different areas of knowledge and systematically integrate their experiences in different subjects.
Ongoing Assessment In order to assess students, it is necessary to collect and analyze information about individual students; therefore, we believe that students should be assessed on a long-term basis throughout the school year. Teachers can use these assessment results and detailed records to plan future curriculum and as a reference for reporting children's learning progress to parents.
School Mission and Vision
"Learn two languages today, become a citizen of the world tomorrow."
An appropriate Early Childhood Development (ECD) program must be based on meeting the developmental needs of children in the following areas: physical, intellectual, language, social, and emotional. Children learn and develop in stages through a variety of exploratory and sensory activities; through active participation in activities; and through interaction in different cultures and environments.
School Features
"Jolly Phonics" introduces children to the 42 main sounds of the English language, not just the sounds of the letters. After mastering the basic sounds, children can learn to blend sounds and read words, and later learn to read. "The Reading and Writing Workshop at Columbia University's Teachers College offers a knowledge-rich program to nurture enthusiastic readers and writers.
Parent involvement includes: parent participation in assisting with teaching and learning activities, classroom observation, participation in parent seminars, parent newsletters, parent workshops, parent trips, parent/child sports, parent/child book reading program, educational toys library, and parent/child teaching kits. A Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was established in 1996 to facilitate closer communication and cooperation between parents and teachers.
