Program Planning
The curriculum is child-centered and emphasizes the development of children's knowledge, skills, values and attitudes. The curriculum covers six learning areas and emphasizes comprehensiveness, balance and relevance. It takes into account the five developmental goals of children: moral, cognitive and language, physical, emotional and social, and aesthetic. The curriculum also caters for children's developmental needs, abilities, interests and experiences. We respect the uniqueness of each child, cater for children's learning differences, provide flexibility in curriculum arrangement, increase the number of specialist teachers according to school-based needs, and implement biliteracy and trilingualism activities.
We set up life-oriented learning themes and use stories to stimulate children's problem solving, exploration and creative thinking; we use picture books to enrich the learning content and design diversified and interesting integrated activities to enrich children's learning experience. At the same time, we emphasize children's bilingual development and enhance their language skills through interaction. We have set up an online parent-child reading program to provide parents with reading guidance through the recommendation of good books in both Chinese and English, and to cultivate children's habit of reading. The classrooms are equipped with material-rich interest corners, where children can explore through their five senses, learn spontaneously through play, and develop into active learners through self-selected grouping.
Progressive and summative assessments covering knowledge, skills, values and attitudes are adopted. Teachers conduct on-going assessments according to the themes through daily observation, writing thematic learning assessments, picture book activity reports, behavioral observation records and artwork analysis for the children. Summative assessments are conducted twice a school year to summarize the children's overall learning performance and development. All records and activity photos are collected in the learning history file, which is the evidence of children's growth.
The school will comply with theKindergarten Education Curriculum GuidelinesThe (2017) Planning Curriculum will not require children in nursery classes to write in pen and pencil, nor will they be required to do mechanical transcription or drill-based numeracy exercises.
School Mission and Vision
To provide a comprehensive range of quality services to parents and children, and to strive for continuous improvement and high quality services. To promote "whole-person" development of our children, we are committed to building a sound foundation for children's character, cognitive and language, physical, emotional and social development, and aesthetic development, so as to prepare them for lifelong learning.
School Features
Resident social workers and teachers constantly observe the children's performance so that they can intervene in a timely manner to provide assistance and care services. Teachers will work closely with parents during the orientation period. In addition, Primary 1 simulations and visits are organized for the children to prepare them for the smooth transition to Primary 1.
To employ additional teaching staff/teaching assistants to support the Chinese language learning of non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students; to deepen the NCS students' understanding of the community environment and facilities through different means and with different themes or games; to help the children understand the local culture and living habits; to incorporate appropriate language learning elements according to their needs; and to make good use of the environment and space by designing meaningful and interesting language games, so as to enhance the children's motivation to learn and use the Chinese language. The program is designed to enhance children's motivation to learn and utilize Chinese language, and to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
The school values the diversity of children and supports their learning and development through participation programs. Teachers are professionally trained and work in partnership with parents to care for the health and development of children.
Parents can learn about the school's vision, goals, and their children's learning through parent-teacher conferences, classroom observations, and curriculum talks. Teachers maintain close contact with parents through phone calls or face-to-face meetings to collect their feedback. The school also organizes parent-child activities, parenting seminars and invites parents of graduates to volunteer at the school through online newsletters to share their experiences.
