It adheres to the five core values of Catholic education and emphasizes the development of students in the six areas of ethics, intellect, physique, social skills, aesthetics and spirituality, and carries out the school motto of "Faithfulness, Diligence, Simplicity, Respect for the Lord and Love for Others". Through life and spiritual education, we enhance the psychological quality of our students and nurture their healthy growth. In the area of religious formation, spiritual formation and consecration are conducted during morning assemblies, weekly assemblies and ceremonies. Religious liturgies, such as pilgrimage to the chapel, recitation of the rosary, and offering of flowers, are also organized according to the season. Students are also encouraged to participate in social services to promote evangelization and the spirit of Caritas.
In terms of discipline and guidance, the school has implemented the strategy of whole-school participation and cooperation in discipline and guidance, and has fostered a culture of teamwork and mutual support through the promotion of classroom management and healthy campus programs, as well as the adoption of the "dual classroom teacher" system in the junior high school. The school flaunts the spirit of "Caring for the people of Chen Hsia". Through various activities in moral and civic education, students are nurtured to possess the six qualities of the people of Chen Hsia: diligence, caring, respect, perseverance, cherishing, and honesty, so as to inspire students to establish correct values, the ability to distinguish right from wrong, good from bad, and the ability to face life with a positive attitude, so that they can give back to the community, and become good citizens brave enough to take on their social responsibilities.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
The school offers a broad junior secondary school-based curriculum that emphasizes knowledge, attitude and competence. Through project-based learning, students can master the basic methods and skills of three types of research, namely, literature and history, social science and scientific exploration, in three years, so as to enhance their learning abilities. In recent years, the school has continued to bring in external resources to assist the development of various learning and teaching initiatives and the curriculum. In this year, the school participated in the University of Hong Kong's School-based STEM Curriculum for Life-wide Autonomous Learning, which aims to support teachers' professional development, enhance students' ability to design and evaluate their own learning in STEM education, promote students' integration and application of knowledge and skills in different disciplines related to STEM education, and develop their independent learning ability and entrepreneurship in inquiry or innovation.
NSS students can choose from two or three elective series with more than 10 elective subjects according to their abilities and interests, so that they can fully develop their potentials. To cater for students' learning needs, learning targets are set for each subject according to common abilities to promote independent learning, and the use of questioning, group discussions and presentations in classrooms to enhance classroom interactions, with a view to enhancing students' thinking and creativity. In addition, we have arranged after-school remedial classes according to students' language and mathematics abilities and their different learning needs, as well as Saturday Diploma Examination Intensive Courses, so as to take care of students' learning needs in a more comprehensive manner.
