The Chinese Language subject is a "Putonghua-Chinese" subject, with Hanyu Pinyin in Years 1 and 2, and Children's Literature in Years 1 to 6. In English, the internationally recognized Cambridge English Programme is offered in Primary One and Two. In addition, the PLP/R curriculum is used in grades 1-3, and the storytelling element is added in P1-6. STEAM elements are incorporated in General Studies, Mathematics, Computer Science, Visual Arts and Music. In addition to the regular school-based curriculum, we also broaden students' learning experiences and enhance their self-learning abilities through life-wide learning, thematic learning activities, illustrated books, science exploration activities, independent learning and higher-order thinking training.
Life-wide Learning:
Basketball, Cup Stacking, Fencing, Volleyball, Track and Field, Rope Skipping, Table Tennis, Jazz Dance, Choir, Chinese and Western Orchestra, English Musical, Math and Olympics, Magic Bridge, Children's Play, Little Reporters, Little Ambassadors of the Environment, Little Pioneers of Caring, Little Book Soldiers, and Cub Scouts. Multiple Intelligences (MI) classes are also offered in the Sports Team Training Camp, Discipline and Counseling Camp, Discipline Day Camp and Graduation Camp.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
1. The Student Support Team conducts accommodation meetings according to the learning progress and needs of students with SEN.
2. review the student's special educational needs and progress according to the recommendations of specialists and make timely and appropriate accommodations.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; organizing inclusive school activities; and providing additional support (e.g. pull-out/group learning, Pinyin teaching materials, etc.) as necessary in the implementation of Putonghua education across the board for all grades (i.e., all classes/groups) in the school.
Home school cooperation:
Parent-Teacher Conferences are held at all levels to explain the school's instructional practices and goals, and to listen to parent feedback. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) organizes a variety of activities to maintain close contact between home and school. There is also a parent volunteer team to assist the school in organizing activities and serving the community.
