Teacher professional training and development:
The school emphasizes on staff training and encourages teachers to participate in various seminars, workshops and courses every year. The school also conducts in-school seminars in response to annual concerns and educational reforms, so that teachers can have a clear understanding of the school's direction, equip themselves, and lead their students to maximize their strengths in various areas.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The school adopts a whole-school approach to integrated education. The work is co-ordinated by the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. The team comprises SEN Support Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, Subject Teachers and Integrated Education Assistants. Teachers are arranged to enroll in IE-related courses to enhance their professional competence. The school also makes good use of the Learning Support Grant and other school resources to provide diversified services for students with SEN, including social training groups, speech therapy, music therapy, art therapy, etc. The school also provides a variety of services for students with SEN. An extra session will be organized after school on every Monday to provide diversified learning activities for students with SEN to enhance their interest in learning. Through curriculum design, diversified teaching strategies, tiered assignments, and test accommodations, we also take care of students' learning differences to enhance the learning effectiveness of students with special educational needs. With parents' consent, we collect information on new students with SEN from their previous schools so that we can identify their SEN at an early stage and arrange appropriate support for them. The school also works closely with the Educational Psychologist and regularly invites parents to participate in student assessment meetings to jointly develop Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) for students. The effectiveness of the program is regularly reviewed and student support summaries are distributed to enable parents to understand how their students are doing in school and to acquire the skills to take care of their children effectively.
