Program Planning
The Aki Kindergarten program is an emerging curriculum that follows the interests of the children, which is one of the key aspects of the Reggio Emilia Method. The environment is the third teacher and gives care and attention to ensure that the learning environment is engaging for the children and stimulates their curiosity and creativity. The teacher works with and supports the children in their learning and encourages community collaboration. Children are encouraged to express themselves in different ways.
Reggio Emilia Play-based, child-centered learning. Children are viewed as capable and competent learners who are curious about the world around them. Teachers work with children to promote inquiry and support their development in a variety of developmental areas. Emphasis is placed on encouraging children to be independent, remain curious, creative and confident. The environment is a third teacher that supports children's learning in authentic, meaningful ways.
