School Wind:
The school culture is simple and honest, emphasizing "strictness but love", character education, and the cultivation of self-discipline. The school has implemented a number of counseling, personal growth and career planning programs, and actively encourages students to participate in various volunteer activities. The "Senior Citizen Program", "Active Minds Program", "Team Adventure Training", "Positive Education Activities", "Dual Class Teacher System", "After-school Learning Support Program", and so on, cater for the needs of students in a comprehensive manner. In order to enhance students' sense of belonging to the school and to create a sense of home, the school organizes "chartered activities" so that teachers and students can have more time to communicate and get along with each other after school, which promotes teacher-student relationship and enhances students' sense of belonging to the school, so that students can learn happily and give full play to their personal potentials. In addition, the "Independent Learning Scheme" has been implemented in junior secondary schools to cultivate students' good learning habits. The "Managing Goals Well" scheme helps students to build up their career planning profiles and implement workplace attachment to help them set goals, equip themselves and realize their aspirations; and the "Junior and Senior Secondary Schools Leadership Scheme" has been implemented to explore the leadership qualities of students and cultivate them to become tomorrow's leaders. The school also encourages and arranges for students to participate in extra-curricular competitions so that they can develop their strengths and increase their chances of experiencing success. The Community Experience Program enables students to broaden their horizons, enhance their care for the community, and cultivate their sense of empathy.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
The Chinese and English subjects adopt the "cooperative learning" teaching strategy to increase classroom interaction and enhance teaching effectiveness. Optimize learning habits and formulate clear classroom rules to create a good learning environment. We have set up consolidation classes to cultivate the habit of writing handbooks and handing in assignments on time. Starting from 2022, the school will collaborate with The Chinese University of Hong Kong's Quality School Improvement Program to optimize students' strategies and habits of pre-study, note-taking and revision strategies through student workshops, classroom teachers' workshops and subject teachers' workshops, lesson observation and deliberation, in order to promote students' "self-directed learning". In the junior secondary school, the strategy of "low, small, high and fast" is implemented to build up students' sense of success. In the classroom, the school has introduced the "mobile learning" mode of teaching to increase the interactivity and interest of the classroom, to promote collaborative learning and to enhance the learning effectiveness of the students. In addition, the school actively promotes "STEM education" by providing students with more learning activities so that they can effectively integrate scientific, technological and mathematical knowledge, utilize and give full play to their abilities of inquiry, collaboration and problem solving, and cultivate their creativity. The school also encourages and recognizes active learning and motivated students through award schemes and scholarships.
Teacher professional training and development:
Professional development of teachers is promoted through teacher development days, collaborative lesson planning and peer lesson observation in various subjects, exchange of teaching experience within and across subjects, and professional development activities with external organizations. In addition, we have implemented the New Staff Partnership Scheme to foster a caring culture among peers. Moreover, we have set up a professional development database and organized sharing seminars on teaching strategies to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The Integrated Education Support Team is responsible for planning and implementing the integrated education support work, building up an inclusive culture on campus, providing activities and learning support for students with special educational needs (SEN), and enhancing their interpersonal network and self-confidence. The Integrated Education Support Unit, comprising the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Special Educational Needs Support Teacher, Assistant Growth Support Officer, School-based Speech Therapist and Counseling Assistant, adopts a Whole School Approach to counseling, and formulates support measures for students with SEN to enable them to receive appropriate support. In terms of early identification of students' SEN, the IE Support Section collects information on new students with SEN at Secondary 1 level, screens students suspected of having SEN and refers them to professionals such as educational psychologists and speech therapists for follow-up. In terms of examination adaptation, apart from arranging for students to be adapted for internal tests, the IE Support Team also assists students who have applied for public examinations to apply for the same. In addition, the Integrated Education Support Section flexibly utilizes the Learning Support Grant outsourcing service to organize social training groups, homework tutorial classes, Secondary 1 adaptation groups, board games groups, handicraft groups, etc., so that students can integrate into school life, enhance peer support and improve self-confidence.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; and organizing cultural integration activities.
School facilities:
The school building is spacious and quiet. All classrooms, special rooms, auditorium and covered playground are air-conditioned, with school-wide wifi network, touch-screen monitors, projection equipment and physical projectors. In addition, there are rooms for nurturing top students, a STEM study room, a student activity center, and two computer rooms.
