School Wind:

Adhering to the teaching spirit of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, which is "whole-person education" and "developing students' potential", the school assists students to grow up healthily, develops their good character, enhances their self-confidence and self-esteem, and strengthens the caring culture of the school. The school provides various developmental support groups for students, including Discipline Group, Counseling Group, Moral and Civic Education Group, Careers and Further Education Group, Student Support Group, Extra-curricular Activities Group and Life Education Group. These groups often collaborate in whole-school activities, such as the Secondary 1 orientation activity "Yoga for Fun", the "Big Brothers/Big Sisters" program, the Volunteer for All program, and leadership training, etc. The school encourages students to take part in more extra-curricular activities to enrich their learning experience, and to enhance students' self-confidence and self-esteem through diversified learning experiences. The school provides students with developmental, preventive and remedial counseling programs and activities strategically according to the school's own situation. We will also take the initiative to contact and communicate with students and parents, and provide students with as much care and attention as possible, so as to give full play to the spirit of home-school co-operation.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

The Middle School emphasizes the training of Chinese, English and Mathematics and the participation in extra-curricular activities to strengthen biliteracy and trilingualism and to lay a good foundation for students. The school provides students with a diversified curriculum to broaden their knowledge base. In addition, the school also vigorously implements cross-curricular project learning in junior secondary schools to cultivate students' generic skills and enhance their creativity and problem-solving abilities. This year, the school has introduced "cross-curricular English learning" and "cross-curricular reading" classes in S4 and S5 to enhance students' interest and ability in reading. Extensive Reading Programmes have been set up for Chinese and English subjects. The Parent-Teacher Association and the Library have jointly organized the Parent-Child Reading Award Scheme to promote reading. The Library organizes activities for all subject groups to encourage students to read more and to improve their reading skills.

In addition, the school encourages teachers to observe lessons with each other and to participate in different types of professional development activities to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Teachers in the school are becoming more sophisticated in the use of e-learning, which makes lessons more interactive and greatly enhances students' sense of engagement and participation. Through the e-learning platform, teachers can also encourage students to prepare for lessons before attending them, thus achieving the goal of "independent learning". Teachers' use of e-learning is becoming more mature, and they conduct "blended learning" in the classroom, combining the advantages of both online and physical lessons to enhance students' sense of engagement and participation. For example, teachers use "flipped teaching" to allow students to make use of the e-learning platform to do pre-study before attending classes, and then carry out more in-depth learning in the school classroom; or "learning menu teaching" to allow students to complete the learning tasks according to their own progress, so as to cater for the diversity of students' learning and to practise personalized learning.

Teacher professional training and development:

The school attaches great importance to the personal growth and professional development of teachers. The school has set up a "Mentorship System" in the teaching team to gradually develop an atmosphere of mutual care and willingness to nurture new teachers, thereby enhancing the sustainability of the school's overall development in the future. Teachers of all subjects regularly open their classrooms for peer observation, after which reflections and exchanges will be conducted in their subject groups. In addition, teachers' experiences in teaching practice will be systematically organized, and the school also encourages teachers to conduct action research on teaching, so that teachers can continue to pursue self-improvement and become a "learning community".

All teachers of the school have attended seminars, talks and training courses organized by the Education Bureau, the Hong Kong University of Education and other universities and organizations, such as those on e-learning and STEM education, in order to adapt to the changes and needs of the times. Teachers who need to teach in English in all subjects have received relevant professional English training, and they also attend relevant training courses regularly to refresh their knowledge. The school has also established a set of effective cross-curricular English learning methodology and teaching materials, and has been awarded the Chief Executive's Award for Excellence in Teaching by the Education Bureau in recognition of the efforts and achievements of the school's teachers.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The School is committed to building an inclusive culture and providing holistic support for students with special educational needs (SEN). The School has set up a "Student Support Team" comprising the Deputy Principal, an Educational Psychologist from Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, a Clinical Psychologist from Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, two Resident Social Workers, the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, the Special Educational Needs Support Teacher and the Guidance Counselor, etc. The team meets regularly to formulate appropriate support plans for students with needs. Class teachers and subject teachers regularly exchange information on students' academic and social performance and discuss support measures. At the same time, the school utilizes the Learning Support Grant (LSA) flexibly with the provision of another SEN Support Teacher to help support the students and implement different kinds of activities to enable the students to develop their strengths to the fullest.

In addition to the above, the school arranges a speech therapist to cater for the special educational needs of students. For students with more severe SEN, the school will work closely with the Educational Psychologists of TWGHs and the Clinical Psychologists of TWGHs to provide assessment, referral and Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). In addition, the school emphasizes home-school cooperation and arranges members of the Student Support Team to maintain regular communication with parents so that parents can understand their children's performance in school and promote home-school communication and cooperation.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; and organizing cultural integration activities.

School facilities:

The school has a computer center, an English learning center, a student activity center, an elevator, and restrooms for the disabled. All classrooms, special rooms and assembly halls are air-conditioned.
In recent years, the school has been actively improving its facilities to cater for the school's focus on all-round education, STEM education and blended learning. For example, there is a "fitness room" to enhance students' physical and aesthetic development, a "piano room", a "drum room" and a "performance room" with professional soundproofing equipment, a laboratory specially designed to implement biotechnology education, a "Yoga Creative Space" to enhance students' technological skills, a "Yoga Studio" to improve students' computerized technology and "Yoga Classroom" to enhance students' expressive skills and encourage collaborative learning. The "Yoga Classroom", which is designed to enhance students' ability to express themselves and to encourage collaborative learning, is also equipped with video-recording and interactive teaching functions.
