Tests and study adaptation measures:

Students are assessed academically by continuous assessment and time-lapse assessment respectively. At the junior secondary level, examinations are held twice a year for each subject. The school's ethos is simple and unadorned. The school has implemented the "Whole School Approach to Discipline and Guidance", whereby all teachers are involved in nurturing the quality of students and cultivating their good character, values and conduct. The "Caring School", "Senior Citizen Scheme" and "Ho Fook Tong Award Scheme" are all based on developing students' potential and building up their self-esteem. In addition to class teachers, discipline teachers, counselors, professional social workers and educational psychologists provide regular services to students and their families. The school is committed to promoting a caring and inclusive culture and has been awarded the Caring School Award for 13 years.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

The curriculum is revised at each level according to needs and learning activities are organized throughout the year to enhance the academic atmosphere. Mother-tongue teaching is practiced at the junior high school level to enhance students' thinking and analytical skills, and the related English language teaching package is also effective. The curriculum is designed to enhance students' interest and motivation in learning. Starting from 2004-2005, the school has launched the Integrated Humanities subject, which integrates the curriculum of History, Geography, and Economics and Public Affairs, and introduces Project Learning to develop students' generic skills. The senior secondary curriculum of the school mainly follows the design of public examinations. In addition to the subjects in the public examinations, senior secondary students can develop different interests and skills through extra-curricular activities and other learning experiences. The school emphasizes the importance of cultivating students' reading habits. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the school organizes a "cross-curricular reading class" in which teachers teach students to read Chinese, English, and Civics newspapers. This year, we also implemented the "Parent-Child Reading Award Scheme" to encourage parents to cooperate with the school in promoting reading. In addition, the Chinese subject participated in the Kai Wai Online Reading Program and the English subject participated in the Wiseman Online English Learning Program.

Teacher professional training and development:

The school has set up a "Staff Development Committee" to co-ordinate the professional development activities of teachers in the school, so as to complement the school's development work, to enable teachers to grow professionally, to keep abreast of the latest trends in teaching and learning, and to master the effectiveness of teaching and learning in various aspects. In addition, the school has organized a "Teacher Sharing Day" to provide an opportunity for teachers to share their learning and classroom experiences outside the school, so as to stimulate each other's learning. The school also encourages teachers of all subjects to conduct peer lesson observations, group lesson planning, and even "classroom learning" in order to enhance mutual exchanges. At the same time, parents are introduced to observe lessons so that they can better understand students' learning. The school has implemented "classroom learning" for many years, and it has been effective. Teachers of the school have been recognized for their outstanding performance. Teachers of English and Mathematics have been awarded the Chief Executive's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

To help students with SEN and low academic achievement, the school continuously monitors and flexibly deploys resources to provide appropriate and diversified support for students to meet different learning needs and help them integrate into a pleasant school life. The school has employed two Integrated Education Assistants (IE Assistants) to assist the Special Educational Needs Coordinator in taking care of students with special educational needs (SEN) in dealing with their school life, while the other members of the IE Team help the students concerned in solving their learning and social problems, and provide them with timely counseling and follow-up actions. In terms of learning and teaching, the curriculum will be adapted according to the students' abilities. For examinations, special arrangements will be made for SEN students, such as extra time for written examinations, special arrangements for oral examinations, enlarged examination papers, special seating arrangements, use of computerized screen-reading software or speech-to-text software, etc.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn the Chinese language by arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc.) and organizing cultural integration activities. To facilitate NCS students' adaptation to the Chinese Language curriculum, after-school language support classes were provided to junior secondary NCS students and students were arranged to participate in activities related to Chinese culture.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
Parents may refer to the "Handbook on Application for Secondary One Discretionary Places", or visitEducation Bureau(https://www.edb.gov.hk/) or call: 2891 0088 for a list of schools through the Education Bureau's automated telephone enquiry system.
Parents can submit applications in paper form or through the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) e-Platform. Once an application is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn, canceled or changed.

Parents are advised to consider two important factors when choosing a school for their children: their children's abilities and the characteristics of the preferred school.

You can communicate with your child's subject teachers to learn more about your child's abilities. For the characteristics of the target school, you may refer to the "Profile of a Secondary School" issued by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation to understand the school's philosophy, language of instruction, religion, class structure, etc. You may also refer to the "School Profile" issued by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation to learn more about the school's philosophy, language, religion and class structure.Visit the school's webpage on this websiteThis is because our information is also collected from theSecondary School OverviewThe school's website and information about the school on the internet, including the schools' Youtube Channels.

We believe that as long as we choose suitable schools according to the abilities of our children, we will make them happy to learn and enjoy going to school, which will be most helpful to their studies.

Parents can only apply for a maximum of two participating secondary schools for their children. Note: Applications for Discretionary Places from more than two secondary schools, whether submitted in paper form or through the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) e-platform, will be considered invalid.
There is no district restriction on the application for discretionary places and parents can choose target secondary schools across districts.
