School-wide language policy:

The school is committed to creating an English learning environment and implementing a whole-school approach to English language learning. Mathematics from S1 to S6 and some modules of Science at junior secondary level are taught in English. With the exception of Chinese Language, Chinese History and Putonghua, English vocabulary and usage are taught in all subjects, and an English assessment component is included in all assessments. Putonghua is taught in S1-S2. The school organizes foreign language classes to enhance students' ability in other languages.

Tests and study adaptation measures:

  1. Each semester is divided into two semesters, with one test and one examination in each semester. There are different forms of continuous and progressive assessment for each subject to regularly review students' learning performance and progress, provide timely feedback to students, enhance learning effectiveness, and reduce the pressure of examinations.
  2. The depth of the questions in the tests is proportional to the ability of the students. Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The school adopts a "Whole School Approach" to support students with SEN to enhance their learning ability and to create a caring and inclusive culture on campus. The Student Support Team is led by the Deputy Principal (Learning and Teaching) and comprises the Deputy Principal (School Ethos and Student Support), the Head of the Student Support Team, the Head of the Nurturing Team, the Academic Affairs Officer, two teachers to assist in the care of students with SEN, an Educational Psychologist, two Social Workers, two Guidance Counselors, and an Assistant. The school uses the Learning Support Grant flexibly to employ additional staff, including two counselors and one assistant, and also purchases professional services, such as social group, music therapy, counseling program, speech therapy and literacy enhancement group, so as to strengthen students' self-confidence and social skills. The school emphasizes home-school co-operation and maintains a regular communication mechanism to listen to parents' views and discuss students' progress so as to support students more effectively. The school also provides assessment and adjustment for students in need, and organizes learning plan meetings for individual students to help them design specific and effective support plans through multi-disciplinary meetings.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The School provides additional support to admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; and organizing cultural integration activities. The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
