School-wide language policy:

The school emphasizes the development of biliteracy and trilingualism. Students from S1 to S3 are taught through different mediums of instruction according to their language ability. Apart from English and Mathematics which are taught in English, other subjects (Integrated Science, Geography, General Computer) are taught through different mediums of instruction according to students' language ability.
The English Department organizes diversified English activities, such as poetry recitation contests, drama contests, speech contests, English Day, etc., in order to create a rich English learning environment and to increase students' exposure to and learning of English, so as to prepare them for the future learning of English in the New Senior Secondary School. In addition, the English Corner, which is held every day during lunch and after school, allows students to have more contact with foreign English teachers and participate in English activities to enhance and strengthen students' English proficiency.
In addition, speech, drama and debate competitions are organized for the Chinese and Putonghua subjects. The school also organizes an annual Language Carnival to encourage the use of biliteracy and trilingualism.

Tests and study adaptation measures:

A total of three examinations are held in each school year to assess students' academic performance in each semester. Students' performance in knowledge, skills and attitudes in school is also assessed through formative assessments.

Application for S1 admission:

The school accepts applications for S1 Discretionary Places and participation in the Central Allocation of Secondary School Places System.
Application for admission to S1: based on the student's religious beliefs, relationship with the school, character and behavior, P.5 and P.6 results, extra-curricular activities, discretionary places results and interview. The admission criteria and weighting of S1 Discretionary Places are yet to be finalized, please refer to the school's announcement in January 2023 for details.

In August each year, we hold a counseling day for new students, an intensive Chinese and English language class, an English bridging program, a parent day for new students, a moral education training program, and an adventure team training program.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

Through the teaching of basic subjects, the school incorporates value education and STEM elements into the middle school curriculum, enabling students to develop knowledge and skills in personal growth, social concern and creative problem solving, as well as in personal growth and social concern. At the senior secondary level, different combinations of subjects (Arts, Commerce, Science, Physical Education and Arts) are offered to students according to their abilities and interests. Some subjects are grouped (e.g. English Language, Chinese Language, etc.) and taught in small classes so that students can receive better care and attention. In recent years, all subjects have been taught through e-learning, utilizing an e-learning platform to ensure that students can learn effectively under different circumstances.

To set up a Teacher Training and Development Unit to formulate development plans for teachers and to encourage self-improvement and lifelong learning among teachers.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The School has set up a Student Support Unit comprising a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Student Guidance Counselor, Teaching Assistants, Teachers and Social Workers to help students with special educational needs (SEN) develop their potentials and to promote mutual respect for individual differences among teachers and students so as to create an inclusive school environment. Through the use of the Learning Support Grant, the school provides five main types of programs for SEN students: executive group, social group, concentration group, literacy group and speech therapy service. Arrangements are also made for students to participate in out-of-school service activities and arts activities. In addition, the Special Learning Needs Coordinator will work with the teaching assistants, social workers and teachers in the team to develop individualized learning plans for students with special needs.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc.); and organizing cultural integration activities. Our school also recommends NCS students to participate in the Student Support Programmes organized by the Education Bureau (EDB) to enhance their Chinese language proficiency.

All classrooms are equipped with air-conditioners and projectors, multi-media computer classrooms, multi-media art creation classrooms, fitness rooms, misting fans, bathrooms, air-conditioning tables, billiard tables, table tennis tables, soccer, basketball and badminton courts.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
