The junior secondary curriculum is more diversified, with core courses and after-school support programs to cater for learner diversity and help students develop their potentials, while the senior secondary curriculum offers a wide range of courses, including Applied Learning courses, to meet the needs of students. In addition, students are encouraged to learn through reading. Extensive reading and lunchtime reading programs are implemented to enhance students' language proficiency. Lunchtime Reading: Teachers and students read together and enjoy reading quietly. Extensive Reading Program for Chinese and English subjects: Students are encouraged to read extensively to acquire knowledge in various fields and broaden their horizons. The school has also set up a reading incentive book coupon, which allows students to buy books at the school book fair, encouraging students to own books, collect books and love books. Small group teaching is provided for Chinese, English and Mathematics subjects to facilitate students' learning.
The school promotes BYOD, which allows the school to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning through IT, strengthen classroom interaction, and enhance students' abilities in independent learning, problem solving and collaboration.
Teacher professional training and development:
A Teacher Professional Development Unit has been set up in the school to enhance the continuous professional development of teachers. To tie in with the curriculum reform, all teachers have been actively participating in seminars and workshops organized by the Education Bureau (EDB), school sponsoring bodies and other educational organizations. In addition, the school organizes a number of professional development days every year to conduct various training activities, and invites education experts and EDB staff to conduct seminars and workshops to enhance teachers' professional knowledge and skills. The school has always emphasized collaborative teaching. Over the years, the school has implemented whole-school collective lesson planning, whereby subject teachers are led by their subject supervisors to discuss, design lesson plans together and share their teaching results. At the same time, the school also encourages colleagues to conduct peer lesson observations in the same subject or across subjects for comprehensive lesson observation and evaluation, so as to enhance the exchange of experience among teachers in teaching and learning, thereby improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The school is committed to promoting an inclusive culture on campus, providing a wide range of support and services to students, and working together to create a harmonious and inclusive campus. The school also focuses on the needs of different students through outsourced services, such as speech therapy and social training groups, to help students in Tier 2 support to grow up healthily.
The Student Support Team consists of Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), Guidance Officers (GOVs), teachers trained in special education, educational psychologists, social workers and teaching assistants. Each member of the team has his/her own specialization, and through close liaison, they share and exchange their professional views with frontline teachers to enhance their teaching standards. The school has flexibly deployed resources to support students with SEN in a school-based support mode, allowing subject teachers to optimize the curriculum from junior secondary level onwards, selecting key contents according to students' abilities, and flexibly applying different teaching strategies to optimize the first-tier support, so as to enable students to build up a solid foundation.
The school emphasizes home-school co-operation. The guidance teacher is responsible for the registration of new Secondary 1 students, and through interviews with parents, the school understands the special educational needs of students and provides an adaptation programme before the start of classes to help students integrate into school life as soon as possible. The school also organizes parent workshops to exchange educational experiences and listen to parents' views. The school also invites parents to participate in meetings as needed to develop individual learning plans and review their effectiveness on a regular basis. If parents and schools can share the same beliefs and methods, students will be able to build up their learning habits and routines.
