The school is a simple and well-organized school. The school provides assistance to students in the areas of academic affairs, discipline, counseling, student affairs, extracurricular activities, civic education, and career counseling.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
The school emphasizes the effectiveness of teaching and diversified learning. Therefore, the school focuses on cultivating students' independent thinking, self-discipline and enterprising spirit in both formal and non-formal curricula. In addition, every morning, all students are required to share/read aloud in either English or Putonghua to strengthen their language foundation and enhance their biliteracy and trilingualism. Diversified subjects are offered in all classes to meet students' learning needs, and elective subjects of different Key Learning Areas are offered to students from S4 to S6. To support life-wide learning, each junior secondary student is required to participate in five field trips within three years.
Teacher professional training and development:
The school encourages teachers to continue their professional development by attending various seminars and lectures for self-improvement. At the same time, teachers in the school must observe each other's classes at least twice a year to exchange teaching experience and enhance teaching effectiveness.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The school adopts a "Whole School Approach" in implementing IE. A Student Support Team has been set up, and the Guidance Counselor and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator will, according to the needs of the students, regularly invite educational psychologists, parents, classroom teachers and subject teachers to work together to formulate supportive measures for students with SEN, so as to help them integrate into the school and learn happily and effectively. The school also arranges teachers to enroll in courses related to integrated education to deepen their understanding of students with SEN and to master effective teaching methods, thereby enhancing the professional competence of the teaching team.
In order to identify students' special educational needs (SEN) at an early stage, the school collects information on new students with SEN with the consent of their parents, and refers students suspected of having SEN to the Educational Psychologist for assessment. The school adopts a three-tier support model to cater for the different learning needs of students. The school makes use of the Learning Support Grant and other internal resources to provide support to students, such as purchasing after-school homework tutorials, social training groups, speech therapy services, and arranging Individualized Learning Plans, etc. The school also provides a "Student Support Digest" to the parents concerned every year to enable them to know about the school's support measures. On the other hand, in accordance with the HKEAA's guidelines on examination accommodations, the school will also arrange internal examination accommodations, including extra time for examinations, special examination venue arrangements, etc. The school will also assist students applying for the Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) Examination to apply for similar accommodations, so as to ensure that candidates with SEN can sit for the examination in an appropriate environment and receive a fair assessment.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese learning; and organizing cultural integration activities. The school provides after-school Chinese tutoring for admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese.
