Learning and Teaching Strategies :
We believe that everyone is willing and able to learn and strive for excellence. To cater for different learning needs, the school focuses on blended learning and teaching strategies and curriculum adaptation. We have developed school-based curricula for Chinese, English and Mathematics to help students build a good foundation in language and mathematics. In order to create a favorable English environment, English teachers communicate with students in English both inside and outside the school, conduct morning assemblies in English, implement the "English Conversation Scheme", "English Filling Station", and promote the Inter-school Speech Festival and teaching activities to enhance students' interest in English learning. Through the implementation of the e-Learning Online Classroom and the Knowledge Management System, students were encouraged to think creatively and enhance their interest in learning science and technology.
Teacher professional training and development:
- Promote a culture of lesson observation and collaborative lesson planning among teachers, and organize school-based professional development activities such as lesson observation review meetings, "peer lesson observation" and "learning and teaching exchange meetings".
- Teachers use questionnaires to collect feedback from the whole school in order to further enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
- To pay attention to the professional development of teachers, actively organize school-based professional development activities for teachers, coordinate with the professional development planning of the Education Bureau, and encourage and subsidize teachers to attend training courses and exchange with other countries and regions.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
Established in 2009, the Student Support Team is responsible for planning, implementing and reviewing the support for SEN students, and formulating support plans and measures according to individual needs. Jesus said, "I am the Good Shepherd, I know my sheep". The school emulates the spirit of Jesus Christ in caring for the world and provides services to students in a spirit of acceptance, tolerance and understanding.
Academically, we provide appropriate curriculum, classroom support and examination adaptation, provide effective training both inside and outside the classroom to enable students to overcome barriers, and encourage students to participate in different types of activities to maximize their potential.
Home-school co-operation is the cornerstone of student development. The school actively connects parents through various activities to maintain communication with each other to understand the progress of students.
As SEN students have different nature and needs, the Student Support Team regularly disseminates to teachers the latest list of students and individual follow-up strategies to enhance the effectiveness of counseling. In addition, the school utilizes appropriate resources to provide training for teachers and parents.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g., pull-out learning on a need basis, group learning, etc.); and organizing cultural integration activities. Starting from 2016, after-school learning groups have been set up to enhance the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and to complement the diversified activities (e.g. cultural exchanges), so as to help them learn Chinese well.
School facilities:
In recent years, the iCentre (Apple Computer Center) and the STREAM special room have been added, as well as the Student Development Center, the Multi-purpose Activity Room and the Lecture Hall; the Learning and Teaching Resource Center (Library) has been expanded and a second auditorium has been constructed. All classrooms, special rooms and auditoriums are air-conditioned. All classrooms have been installed with computers, projectors, wireless networks, interactive screens and electronic interactive whiteboards to facilitate IT teaching and provide a comfortable and harmonious learning environment for students.
