Most of the classes are taught in English and the school has a strong English language tradition. Large-scale school activities are conducted in English, supplemented by a wide range of activities to enhance students' English proficiency. In addition, the school also actively creates a Putonghua language environment.
Tests and study adaptation measures:
There are two exams per year, accounting for 70% of the total grade for the year, and another 30% for progressive assessment, including tests, homework, project work, and continuous assessment.
In order to build up a habit of continuous revision, junior secondary students (S1 to S3) will have regular quizzes. There are about 2-3 quizzes per semester for each subject.

The school has an excellent school ethos and is committed to providing a good learning environment in which students can develop self-discipline, self-respect, respect for others and concern for the community in a healthy group atmosphere. The school has a Grade Discipline Counseling and Life Education Coordinator at each grade level to take care of the physical, mental and spiritual growth of students, to understand their emotions and behaviors, and to provide appropriate counseling and support according to the needs of different stages of growth at each grade level. Weekly assemblies are held for moral education and career counseling for each grade, and seminars and activities are arranged according to different needs, so as to provide opportunities for teaching, sharing and communication, and to inculcate correct values and help students learn self-discipline and become responsible citizens. The School Social Worker, Educational Psychologist, Guidance and Discipline Section and Life Education Section provide full support to the school.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
- Adoption of an academically-oriented curriculum framework: The objective is to nurture students with a solid foundation in language, mathematical literacy, and basic knowledge in various subjects, and to further strengthen students' generic skills through the extended curriculum.
- Interdisciplinary English Language Teaching (IELT): To support the policy of using English as the medium of instruction (MOI), the school has designed a series of school-based interdisciplinary English language learning (IEL) courses and reading materials, and formulated strategies for each subject to consolidate and develop students' ability to learn all subjects in English.
- Cultivating thinking skills: Each subject uses different types of organization charts to train students to organize information and extend their thinking skills. Interactive teaching and higher-order thinking are emphasized in the classroom.
- Facilitating Assessment for Learning (FAL): Implemented in all subjects to collect feedback for learning and teaching, so as to adjust teaching strategies accordingly and enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
- Cultivating students' self-directed learning skills: Students develop self-directed learning attitudes, habits, and skills through pre-course preparation and online coursework.
- Emphasis on reflective learning: Students are guided to set learning targets and make regular reflective reviews for improvement.
- Reading Scheme: This includes two reading lessons per cycle week in S1 and S2 and one reading lesson in S3, and the Junior School Reading Award Scheme. Each subject also has extra-curricular reading materials in the curriculum design to actively promote a reading culture in the school.
- BYOD Program: Fully implemented in S1 to S5 in the 2021-2022 school year, utilizing various e-learning strategies to increase classroom and after-school interactions and enhance student engagement.
Teacher professional training and development:
The school encourages teachers to pursue further education and to add value. Through collaborative lesson planning, lesson observation and post-lesson review, various teaching strategies are tested and actively shared within and outside the school to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
All teachers are involved in supporting students with learning needs with the assistance of the Special Education Coordinator, the school social worker and the Educational Psychologist.
Various group activities and individual counseling are arranged for students with SEN - speech therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, career planning, executive functioning training, physical fitness training, socialization group, animal therapy, and literacy classes. The school provides a summary of support for parents of students with SEN.
The school participates in EDB's Whole School Approach to Tiered Support for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (WSAIS) and Jockey Club's School-Based Multi-dimensional Support (SBMS) Program (Learning Support) to support students with learning needs in 2022-23.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; and organizing cultural integration activities. Provide additional and appropriate teaching materials for Chinese language and Chinese history learning; provide after-school Chinese learning support and lessons; build up online Chinese learning platform and resources; conduct pull-out learning and group learning in Chinese lessons; conduct special tests and homework adjustments. Promote home-school cooperation and organize parent consultation sessions.
