Learning and Teaching Strategies :
Clear objectives and policies are set out in curriculum planning and organization, which are organized to meet the school's objectives and promote the intellectual, spiritual, mental, emotional, social and physical development of students. The school offers a wide range of learning experiences to promote whole-person education and development. The curriculum is broad and balanced, and the formal curriculum is diversified to broaden students' horizons and learning areas, and to cater for their life experiences, abilities and needs. The school has designed a number of timetables to facilitate the implementation of diversified learning activities, cross-curricular activities and non-formal curriculum, with particular emphasis on moral education.
Teacher professional training and development:
In addition to the annual teacher training day, teachers of the school attend courses and seminars organized by the Education Bureau and university institutions. In addition, the resident social worker, educational psychologist, clinical psychologist and speech therapist organize workshops for teachers.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The Student Support Team of the school provides support for gifted students and students with special educational needs. The support team strives to develop students' talents in different disciplines through collaboration with different groups such as teachers, parents, counseling team, school social workers, educational psychologists, clinical psychologists and speech therapists. The school will make use of various resources, such as the Learning Support Grant and the Multi-Learning Grant, to identify students with SEN at an early stage and develop specific measures for these students to facilitate their learning, e.g. examination adaptation, special arrangement for homework, individualized learning plan, etc. The Coordinator for SEN students will also make use of the resources available to the school to help students with SEN to develop their potential. The Coordinator for Students with Special Learning Needs (SENCO) will follow up with students with SEN on an individual basis and maintain close contact with their parents to review the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g., pull-out learning on a need basis, small group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; organizing cultural integration activities; and employing additional staff and/or purchasing additional translation/interpretation services to facilitate communication with parents. To facilitate communication with parents, the school will also be required to provide additional staff and/or purchase additional translation/interpretation services.
School facilities:
The school has a multi-media learning center, a swimming pool, a library, a lecture room, a conference room, a prayer room, etc. The Lok Wing provides more classrooms and a series of multi-purpose classrooms for students to use, including a student activity center, a dance room, a multi-purpose room, a counseling room for further education and employment, and a character development group room. In addition, two classrooms have been converted into 21st Century classrooms.
