Learning and Teaching Strategies :
Middle school teaching focuses on English, Chinese and Mathematics, together with Integrated Humanities, Integrated Science and Life and Social Studies to enhance biliteracy, trilingualism, thinking, creativity, problem-solving and information technology skills. In senior secondary schools, teaching focuses on public examinations; students are encouraged to set goals, formulate study plans and develop perseverance to help them achieve good results. Life-wide Learning (LWL) classes broaden learning experiences, build character, and train collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and higher-order thinking skills. Cross-curricular collaboration and activities are organized according to each Key Learning Area (KLA), enabling students to develop generic skills and enhance the effectiveness of learning. Through curriculum integration, students can achieve more effective articulation with the senior secondary curriculum. The senior secondary school offers a wide range of arts, science, commerce and practical subjects to cater for students' different interests. Some subjects are organized into Chinese and English groups so that students can choose the language of study according to their ability. In order to strengthen students' reading ability, there are extensive reading programs in the library, Chinese and English subjects, as well as online Chinese and English reading programs to cultivate students' habit of continuous reading. In recent years, emphasis has been placed on cultivating students' self-learning attitude through pre-course preparation activities and online self-learning system to build up students' self-learning habit. In addition, we have been actively developing e-learning by utilizing different platforms to enable teachers and students to conduct e-learning proficiently, so as to cope with the trend of learning development.
Teacher professional training and development:
Teacher training is aligned with school development and three teacher development days are held annually. Joint lesson planning, peer lesson observation and peer learning are encouraged for all subject groups. The school also participates in Lok Sin Tong's Quality Circle program, which encourages exchanges with affiliated schools.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The objective of the school's integrated education policy is to help students with SEN to adapt to the school campus and learning life, and to enable other students to accept and care for their peers with SEN, so as to build up an inclusive atmosphere in the school. The school has a Special Learning Needs Working Group, comprising teachers, social workers and educational psychologists. The school social worker and educational psychologist provide regular consultation, counseling and group activities to support the needs of students and parents. The school also arranges test revision classes for students with special learning needs. Graduate tutors are in charge of these classes to help students solve their learning problems. Emotional support is also provided to promote the holistic development of students, so that they can face school life with a healthy and positive attitude. The school also employs experts from various organizations to provide assessment and treatment services for students with different learning needs, and to make adjustments in the assessment of coursework and tests. Where necessary, individualized learning plans are drawn up and implemented for students. Throughout the year, the school follows up on the situation of students, liaises closely with parents, and regularly discusses with teachers and educational psychologists the learning situation of students in order to provide effective support. In terms of inclusive education, the school organizes various activities every year to enable students to learn about the diversity of human beings through games, experiences and movie appreciation, and to bring out the message of acceptance and tolerance, with a view to promoting mutual respect and a culture of inclusion in the school.
