Although the school teaches in the mother tongue, it attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' English proficiency and endeavors to create an ideal English language environment on campus so as to enhance students' confidence in learning English. The school implements "Extended Learning Activities in English" in the junior secondary subjects of Mathematics, Life and Society, Computer Science, Science, Basic Business, Geography, History, Physics, Chemistry and Biology to increase the opportunities and dimensions for students to learn English. The school plans to adopt the "Integrated Approach" to promote relevant teaching and learning activities, including:

  • Systematically and strategically deploy some lessons to revisit concepts and content taught in the native language in English;

Tests and study adaptation measures:

The school year is divided into two semesters, one in each semester, and each semester has an examination that accounts for 40% of the total grade. Through the cooperation of different committees, a harmonious and cordial campus life is created. The school has a Student Union to enable students to develop their leadership skills and to cultivate the spirit of self-governance and self-discipline. The School has arranged the "Secondary One Orientation Scheme" and the "Secondary One Bridging Programme" to help Secondary One students adapt to secondary school life. In addition, the "Learning and Behavior Award Scheme" is implemented to help students build up their self-confidence and challenge themselves through adventurous activities, field trips and social services.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

The Teaching and Learning Committee and subject panels meet regularly to review the effectiveness of teaching and to promote teaching and learning policies. Teachers regularly collect "Teaching and Learning Assessment Forms" completed by students for self-improvement. Students are encouraged to make good use of the facilities in the library and the computer room as a center for self-learning. In addition, in order to enhance the effectiveness of classroom learning, small class teaching, co-teaching and collaborative teaching have been implemented in individual classes at junior and senior secondary levels, so as to provide students with sufficient space and deeper care. The school has been actively integrating the curriculum and promoting the development of school-based curriculum to avoid duplication of subject contents. The school also constantly reviews and pays attention to the learning needs of students and changes in the social environment, so as to provide appropriate curriculum combinations that are conducive to students' further studies and employment.

Teacher professional training and development:

In line with the school's development priorities and in response to the needs of the current education reform, the professional development of teachers focuses on peer-to-peer exchanges and professional sharing, and mainly focuses on e-teaching strategies, curriculum development, classroom research, taking care of student learning diversity, and building teamwork, so as to enable them to master the relevant concepts and implementation strategies, and to promote the professional growth of teachers.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The school promotes an inclusive culture, starting with class-based activities. Secondly, additional student counselors have been recruited to strengthen personal counseling and to take care of students with different learning needs in terms of life, learning, and further studies and employment. In addition, to meet the needs of students, the school has adopted pull-out teaching for the Chinese Language subject at junior secondary level and arranged Chinese after-school classes, English Pinyin classes, homework tutorial classes and speech therapy services. In addition, the school also organizes a variety of activities to cater for the different needs of students, such as LEGO groups, soft dart classes, gardening groups and social groups. In order to strengthen home-school co-operation, we have set up a parent group and regular contact with parents, as well as a dedicated telephone line for parents to contact their colleagues 24 hours a day. In order to strengthen whole-school participation, "Special Educational Needs Liaison Officers" have been set up in major subjects to enhance the care of students in terms of policy, and the school-based professional development has been strengthened by increasing the number and depth of sharing sessions.

The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g., pull-out learning on a need basis, small group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; organizing cultural integration activities; and employing additional staff and/or purchasing additional translation/interpretation services to facilitate communication with parents. The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
