Learning and Teaching Strategies :

With a focus on student-centeredness and the development of students' generic skills, the school adopts self-directed learning strategies, together with a wide range of learning activities and curriculum adaptations to cater for the learning needs of different students, so that every student can feel successful and happy in learning. English language and study skills training is strengthened at junior secondary levels, and large-scale cross-curricular project work is conducted at S1 and S2 levels to enhance students' learning abilities. The school offers 13 NSS elective subjects, and students can choose three subjects according to their interests and abilities. Each subject develops students' thinking skills and problem-solving abilities at different levels. Teachers use collaborative learning, group discussions, student presentations, debates and other independent learning modes to enhance the interactivity of the classroom. In addition, each subject organizes learning activities outside the classroom, such as visits and field trips, to extend teaching beyond the classroom to the real world, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning.

The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc.); and organizing cultural integration activities. Adaptation of teaching materials will be arranged for students to use in class and pull-out lessons. Examinations will be adapted and the marking scheme will be adjusted. The school will arrange Chinese-speaking students to sit next to non-Chinese-speaking students to help each other and increase the opportunities of communication in Chinese.

School facilities:

All classrooms, auditoriums and special rooms are air-conditioned, and after the completion of the School Improvement Project in 1998, the school added facilities for the disabled, a student activity center, a staff lounge, a parent resource center, and a meeting room; in 2005, the school received a grant from the Alumni Association for the construction of a fitness room; and in 2007, the school received a grant from the Sik Sik Yuen for the construction of a perimeter board and air-conditioning in the ground floor of the students' sitting-out area, which further improved the school's facilities.
Sik Sik Yuen is committed to promoting IT education. In line with the funding from the Education Bureau, high-speed Wi-Fi network was installed in the whole school in 2016 and mobile tablet computers were purchased to enable students and teachers to enjoy the fun of e-learning.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
