The Medium of Instruction (MOI) matches the needs of the students in the school. In order to enhance students' proficiency in Putonghua and Chinese language, Putonghua is adopted in the Chinese Language Section of Secondary One. The Secondary Section uses English as the main medium of instruction, except for the subjects of Chinese Language, Chinese History and Chinese Literature which are taught in Chinese, while the other subjects are taught in English.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period.
