In accordance with the Education Bureau's curriculum guidelines for the Key Learning Areas (KLAs), the school develops a school-based curriculum that meets the needs of students in the light of the school context and changes in society. The school emphasizes the development of language proficiency of junior high school students, laying a foundation for their transition to senior high school and helping them to resolve their learning difficulties. The school adopts small class size and ability-based class teaching, and makes appropriate adjustments to the curriculum. In the classroom, independent learning, cooperative learning, information technology and group work are utilized to enhance student participation and to cater for student diversity.
Teacher professional training and development:
The school provides each teacher with a special study grant and encourages them to actively participate in professional development activities such as teaching-related courses, seminars and workshops; and organizes appropriate teacher development activities to meet the needs of students and teachers in order to enhance teachers' professional competence.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The School adopts a "Whole School Approach" in the implementation of IE. The School has set up a Student Support Team (comprising the Deputy Principal, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Special Educational Needs Support Teachers, Subject Teachers and Teaching Assistants, etc.) to support students with SEN, and has arranged for teachers to enroll in IE-related courses to enhance their professional competence. The school flexibly utilizes the Learning Support Grant and other school resources to provide diversified support for students with SEN, including the employment of IE tutors and IE assistants to provide appropriate support for the students, as well as the outsourcing of support services for speech therapy and autistic students to provide training for students in need.
The learning effectiveness of students with SEN is also enhanced through curriculum design, diversified teaching strategies, optimized tiered assignments, and adaptation of homework and tests to cater for students' learning differences. In order to identify students with SEN at an early stage, the School conducts reading, writing and language tests for low achievers after the S1 term test.
