School-wide language policy:

The school emphasizes biliteracy and trilingualism. Mother-tongue teaching is practiced from S1 to S3, and some subjects are taught in English as an extended language from S1 onwards to strengthen students' English language training and enhance their English language proficiency. From S4 to S6, students are divided into classes and subjects according to their abilities, and in some classes, students can choose to use English as the medium of instruction for elective subjects.

Tests and study adaptation measures:

There are two exams throughout the year, one in each semester, accounting for 70% of the overall grade, and each subject has a progress assessment (i.e., a weekly score), with a standardized test in each semester, plus daily homework, assignments, project reports, quizzes, and classroom performance as part of the assessment, which accounts for 30% of the overall grade.

The Student Support Team arranges independent examination rooms and extends the examination time for students during the CST and examination period according to their different needs, and also provides equipment such as voice conversion screen readers and earphones to help students to strive for the best results in the fairest environment.

Students respect teachers, emphasize morality and conduct, and are encouraged to distinguish between right and wrong, and the school culture is pure and simple. The school promotes the integration of discipline and counseling, and has a resident social worker and an educational psychologist to provide comprehensive and professional assistance to help students integrate into a pleasant campus life. Learning and Teaching Strategies :

  • Language education is emphasized. Reading classes are organized for Forms 1 to 5. Under the guidance and encouragement of teachers, students are encouraged to read extensively and make oral presentations to enhance their language skills, broaden their knowledge base, strengthen their speaking skills and consolidate their language foundation.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills are emphasized. The STEM curriculum is offered at Secondary 1 to 3. Through interesting activities such as solar modeling, 3D printing, robot programming and project learning, students can build a solid foundation of knowledge in science, technology and mathematics, and enhance their interest in learning and problem-solving skills.
  • To actively promote arts and culture. Joint primary and secondary school visual arts competitions are organized in the districts/on the island to encourage participation of students in the districts and to promote community arts. Since 2007, annual art exchange activities have been conducted with four secondary schools off the island and a joint school visual arts exhibition has been organized at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
  • The school emphasizes the importance of broadening students' horizons. The school arranges for students to participate in or organizes overseas exchange activities, such as the "Sister School Exchange Trip to the Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou and Zhaoqing)" and the "Study and Career Exploration Trip to the Mainland and Macao".

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The Learning Support Team of the school consists of the Principal, Vice-Principal, Special Education Co-ordinator, Special Education Support Teachers, Social Workers and Guidance Teachers, together with the professional support of Educational Psychologist and Speech Therapist, to take care of students with SEN in a concerted manner. The school adopts a diversified mode of support by making flexible use of the Learning Support Grant and employing teaching assistants to provide group and individual counseling to students with special educational needs. The school emphasizes career planning for students with special educational needs and organizes different types of training and visits according to their learning abilities, interests and strengths. The school conducts Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) for students with specific learning or adjustment difficulties, and makes regular appointments to meet with parents and review the progress of the students in collaboration with the class teachers and educational psychologists. The school provides appropriate examination accommodations, such as extra time, special examination sessions, and paper reading arrangements. Staff members are encouraged to participate in the Education Bureau's "Catering for Diverse Learning Needs" training program to enhance the professional competence of teachers in catering for students with special educational needs (SEN).

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
