School-wide language policy:

The school's language policy is formulated in accordance with the "Fine-tuning the Medium of Instruction Policy for Secondary Schools" implemented by the Education Bureau in 2010 and the actual situation of the school. The school believes that the school-based language policy has a far-reaching impact on the effectiveness of student learning, and that a good standard of Chinese and English is an important foundation for lifelong learning. Therefore, the school's language policy is formulated according to four principles: parents' expectations; students' learning needs; students' language ability, proficiency, interest and performance; and the school's manpower and financial resources. The school emphasizes the enhancement of students' biliteracy and trilingualism: after-school tutorial classes are set up at different levels for both Chinese and English subjects, and classes are conducted in the form of homework tutorials to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching. The Morning Reading Class promotes reading, especially in the morning reading class, to enhance students' reading of extra-curricular books in Chinese and English. The Chinese Language Section organized learning activities such as "Tang Dynasty Poetry" and "Song Dynasty Lyrics" at junior secondary levels to enhance students' interest in classical Chinese literature. To create an English language environment, foreign English teachers host lunchtime and after-school English corner activities to enhance students' listening and speaking skills. The CSJ Showcase was held at the beginning of the school year to enhance students' interest in learning English through the participation of CSJ students in English musical performances. In addition, the school has an English Extended Learning Program (ELP), which includes an ELP program for not more than 25% of the total class time at the junior high school in the following subjects: Mathematics, Life and Society, Music, Lunar Studies, Science, Visual Arts, Creative Education, Fashion Design, Media Arts, and Chinese History.

School Wind:

Through whole-school participation, the school has established a "strict but caring" school ethos, and students are recognized as "well-mannered and disciplined". Dual class teachers are provided for S1 to S5 to provide more comprehensive care. Class management is implemented to establish a friendly and mutual supportive classroom culture. A Grade Council system is set up for each grade, whereby teachers hold regular meetings to monitor the development and needs of each grade. All S1 students are required to stay at school for meals, while S1 and S2 students are required to have "After-school Extended Learning" three days a week after school; some students are selected to participate in the Advanced Learning Program on Saturdays. The school has also strengthened its ethical and religious education by helping students to develop Catholic values and promoting a caring school atmosphere through the daily morning assembly, the Ethics Section and the homeroom period, which has earned the school the "Caring School" award for 13 consecutive years.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

The school provides a diversified curriculum for students of different aptitudes and abilities: in addition to the regular curriculum, a wide range of "Applied Learning" courses are offered in senior secondary schools to broaden the pathways for further studies or employment. Students are streamed according to their abilities, and small group teaching is practiced in Chinese, English and Mathematics at individual levels to achieve the effects of excellence, remediation and support. We actively introduce external professional support and provide teachers with on-site professional training to enhance their teaching strategies and skills. Teachers are encouraged to interact professionally: group lesson planning, peer lesson observation and the progressive development of quality coursework are the focus of the school. The school strives to improve teaching and learning through the collaborative efforts of the teaching team.

Teacher professional training and development:

Teachers are self-evaluated annually. Successful pedagogies are promoted through group lesson planning, peer observation, and post-lesson group review.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The School is committed to building an inclusive and caring campus and adopting a Whole School Approach to support students with special educational needs (SEN) by providing them with a wide range of support services to enhance their learning effectiveness. The Learning Support Team of the school consists of the SEN Co-ordinator, SEN teachers, subject teachers, remedial teachers, teaching assistants, social workers and school-based educational psychologists.
The school makes use of the Learning Support Grant to purchase speech therapy services and occupational therapy services to provide appropriate support to students, including literacy training for students with specific learning difficulties, social skills training for students with autism, concentration training for students with attention deficit, and counseling services for students with emotional problems. The school regularly disseminates information on support for students with special educational needs to all teachers. Teachers work together to prepare lessons, adjust curriculum content and review students' learning progress. Adaptations to examinations, such as extra time, special examination sessions, use of screen readers, etc., are provided. Schools also organize different kinds of inclusive activities to promote an inclusive culture on campus, such as the Student Ambassador Scheme. In addition, the school has formulated Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for individual students with special educational needs (SEN). Regular meetings are held to provide relevant learning support information and to collect parents' views, so as to promote home-school communication and cooperation.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students in Chinese language learning by arranging intensive Chinese language teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc.) and organizing cultural integration activities. The school designed a series of tailor-made Chinese language courses according to the Chinese proficiency of the NCS students, who were first tested by the school's internal assessment tool and categorized into four groups, namely, the New Arrival Adaptation Group, the Foundation Group, the Bridging to Local Chinese Group and the Enrichment Group.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
Parents may refer to the "Handbook on Application for Secondary One Discretionary Places", or visitEducation Bureau(https://www.edb.gov.hk/) or call: 2891 0088 for a list of schools through the Education Bureau's automated telephone enquiry system.
Parents can submit applications in paper form or through the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) e-Platform. Once an application is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn, canceled or changed.

Parents are advised to consider two important factors when choosing a school for their children: their children's abilities and the characteristics of the preferred school.

You can communicate with your child's subject teachers to learn more about your child's abilities. For the characteristics of the target school, you may refer to the "Profile of a Secondary School" issued by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation to understand the school's philosophy, language of instruction, religion, class structure, etc. You may also refer to the "School Profile" issued by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation to learn more about the school's philosophy, language, religion and class structure.Visit the school's webpage on this websiteThis is because our information is also collected from theSecondary School OverviewThe school's website and information about the school on the internet, including the schools' Youtube Channels.

We believe that as long as we choose suitable schools according to the abilities of our children, we will make them happy to learn and enjoy going to school, which will be most helpful to their studies.

Parents can only apply for a maximum of two participating secondary schools for their children. Note: Applications for Discretionary Places from more than two secondary schools, whether submitted in paper form or through the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) e-platform, will be considered invalid.
There is no district restriction on the application for discretionary places and parents can choose target secondary schools across districts.
