Learning and Teaching Strategies :
The school is a through-train school, which provides a more flexible and coherent curriculum and reduces the pressure on students to move up to secondary school.
1. The school's through-train program develops students' basic biliteracy and trilingualism throughout the 12-year curriculum. It also focuses on the development of logical thinking, problem-solving and creativity, appreciation of Chinese and Western cultures and the arts, interest in and habit of sports, interpersonal communication and cooperation skills, as well as the ability for self-reflection and self-improvement.
2. The school aims to optimize classroom teaching and learning through different teaching strategies to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning in order to cater for the different learning needs of students and to improve their English language proficiency.
3. The school enhances the English proficiency of its students through the implementation of a policy of teaching in the context of the language.
Life-wide Learning:
Multiple Intelligences (MI) activities are offered during school hours to help students develop their potentials and interests in different areas. After-school activities include table tennis, taekwondo, basketball, soccer, Chinese dance, painting, swimming, cheerleading, track and field, choir, speech, Cub Scouts, Little Girl Scouts, English drama, orchestra, and Little Pioneers of Christ.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
In line with the through-train curriculum at various stages, core learning and homework areas are defined for students, with appropriate additions and deletions to help students learn.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese language learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese language teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning on a need basis, small group/group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; and organizing inclusive campus activities.
