Is Salvation School good or not?

School Wind:

The school has a simple school culture that encourages students to love themselves and others, to care for the community, and to practice Christian education through different group activities; service teams are set up in grades 5 and 6, and training and service are arranged to serve others; senior students are arranged to help the youngest children and to promote social skills. We actively promote home-school cooperation and harmonious relationships between teachers, students and parents. Every year, we set up a New Student Orientation Week and organize a variety of parent-child home-school activities to ensure that students and their families are properly cared for and that the campus is filled with a joyful and positive atmosphere.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

The program focuses on enhancing students' interest in learning, self-learning and inquiry skills. Through inquiry, cooperative learning, experiments and field trips, and with the support of comprehensive information technology, students learn to compare, analyze, synthesize and create in order to construct knowledge through practice. The language curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of individual students, catering for individual differences and making flexible use of teaching assistants, co-teaching and grouping strategies to enhance the overall learning effectiveness. The school's modular and extended learning activities enable students to develop in a holistic and balanced manner, as shown in the "Life-wide Learning Activities" in this article. Character, social and academic skills are also developed through the Responsive Classroom®Approach and Essentials Bible Programs.

Life-wide Learning:

The school has compulsory modules to enrich students' learning experience, including cultural studies (e.g. cooking, needlework, ink painting), sports, science, service learning, life experiences and global citizenship education; and more than 100 extracurricular activities for students to choose from, such as sports, music and performing arts, visual arts and chess. There are also enrichment learning units for students to learn through interesting investigations.

Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:

The school-based curriculum and learning activities for each subject are designed according to students' interests, abilities and learning needs, and are relevant to the current situation, targeting knowledge, skills and attitudes. The assignments are mainly open-ended, encouraging reflection and application of knowledge. Small-group pull-out learning is provided to enhance the overall learning effectiveness, and examination adaptation is arranged for needy students.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

Home school cooperation:

We promote home-school communication through home-school evenings, home-school prayer meetings, our website, and letters from the principal. We promote parent education by organizing parent education classes with the church on Sundays, where parents and teachers come together to share ways to teach their children, and by encouraging parents to participate in school activities and even assist their classmates with their studies.

Environmental Policy:

The whole school participates in energy saving and emission reduction activities, and recycles objects to build up environmentally friendly habits. We use environmentally friendly lunch boxes, wash and reuse them, set up environmental policies such as paper recycling, set up recycling bins to collect waste paper, recycle old school uniforms, turn off unnecessary lights, walk instead of taking the elevator, etc. to enhance our awareness of environmental protection.
