Learning and Teaching Strategies :
In order to consolidate students' language proficiency, the Grade 1 Chinese subject makes reference to the "Joyful Writing" textbook, and the English subject participates in the PLP/R "Primary Literacy Program" to lay a good foundation for primary and junior high school students. The school has also applied for the "English Enhancement Subsidy Scheme for Primary Schools" under the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research for the development of a school-based English language curriculum. The school actively promotes a reading culture, with morning reading sessions and book sharing activities. In addition, when designing activities, teachers often encourage students to find information in books and practice learning through reading. In order to broaden students' learning experience, the school organizes Life-wide Learning Day, Science Exploration Day, Culture Day and Overseas Exchanges, etc. to enhance students' knowledge and experience.
Life-wide Learning:
The school has a Multiple Intelligences (MI) curriculum, which allows students to participate in five areas (English for Fun, Liberal Studies, Arts, Information Technology and Creative Problem Solving) and 19 learning projects, such as English Drama, Scouting, Gardening, Environmental Education, Cycling, Swimming, etc. Students are able to develop their interests through different learning activities. Students will be able to cultivate their own interests and develop multi-dimensional thinking and liberal arts through different learning activities.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
1. provide homework and assessment accommodations for students in need.
2. to set up after-school non-Chinese speaking classes and classes for new immigrants to help students adapt to school life.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese language learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese language teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning on a need basis, small group/group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; and organizing inclusive campus activities.
Home school cooperation:
Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) support various school activities, including setting up scholarships, organizing interest classes, and mobilizing parent volunteers to support school activities.
