Is YORK INTERNATIONAL PRE-SCHOOL good or not?
Program Planning
Our school aims to be biliterate, trilingual and internationally benchmarked, creating an environment that enhances the balanced development of our children in all areas. Our school emphasizes the importance of English language learning for our students, and we have created tailor-made English learning DVDs for our students. Our English classes are interactive and are taught using the Story Approach Integrated Learning, Letterland Approach and Phonics Approach.
Our school emphasizes that children can learn through activities, have first-hand experience and consolidate their knowledge. Since 2006, our school has conducted more than 20 video conferences with schools in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, such as schools in New York and London. During the video conferences, both sides will introduce the local culture and teach each other an activity. Our children have taught each other Chinese Kung Fu - Tai Chi, making a candy house, etc., while the other side has taught us waltz steps, bucket drumming, etc. This activity has not only been conducted in many foreign countries, but also in many other countries. This activity was not only reported in many foreign newspapers, but also in the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, and even the BBC and the Times came to the school to cover the event.
Our school also held an international charity photo exhibition, "One World Project", in which students took photos of their own subject matter with a designated theme (e.g., favorite things, most hated things), and invited friend schools from the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom to participate in the exhibition, and collected all the students' works together. We also invited our friend schools in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom to participate in the event and collected all the students' works to organize a charity photo exhibition in our auditorium. At the same time, in order to let our students understand more intuitively about the scenery and culture of other countries, we actively innovated by bringing Virtual Reality (VR) technology into our activities. Through VR goggles, children could appreciate the famous scenic spots in different countries, such as Tower Bridge in the UK, Statue of Liberty in the US, Taj Mahal in India, Red Square in Russia, etc. After the exhibition, all the photographs were displayed in the exhibition. After the exhibition, all the photographs will be displayed in the schools of other countries, so that the students can learn about the cultural differences of different countries, and at the same time contribute to the world's needy people and care for the community.
School Mission and Vision
We are committed to eight goals, with the overarching goal of helping children reach their potential, and York's teachers live up to these ideals as they walk alongside their children :)
- We are committed to nurturing the development of the whole child.
- We allow our children to learn through experience and grow through realization.
- We want to build and reinforce the foundation of our children's learning.
- We recognize that young children have a great talent for language at an early age, and that nurturing them to learn English at an early age is an important and wise step.
- We emphasize the development of the child's interpersonal intelligence.
- We recognize that the education of our children requires the cooperation of parents, and the school is committed to involving parents in this process.
- We need to have fun and integrate different knowledge to facilitate diversified education.
- We have a spirit of commitment and dedication, and nurturing children is our promise and mission.
School Features
The following support is provided to parent-children.
- Learning: A high proportion of expatriate teachers work in small class sizes; the school utilizes multimedia teaching materials to break the time and space constraints of learning and to help children challenge the international English and Mathematics benchmarks; the school has added a pronunciation QR Code to the children's exercise books, so that parents can consolidate the children's vocabulary knowledge at home; the school has also produced its own learning software, together with an online reading platform, to encourage parents to read with their children.
- Physical Fitness: The first kindergarten tennis program in Hong Kong in collaboration with Prince Tennis, as well as archery and golf programs.
- Music: Christmas Dance and Concert are held every year. In addition, violin training is added to the music curriculum to enhance the children's musical skills.
- New Student Admission: We understand that it is not easy to conduct an admission interview at the age of 2. Since we want to see the Peak Performance of the children and find out the students with potentials, we always adopt a relaxed, pleasant and stress-free environment for the interviews, such as ball games, English stories (Circle Time), group cake making, etc. to conduct a comprehensive assessment for the children, For example, ball games, English storytelling (Circle Time), group pastry making, etc., to provide a comprehensive assessment for the children. At the same time, we also provide each candidate with some general knowledge quiz software developed by the school so that the children can cope with the interview in the best condition.
- Primary School Support: Every year, the school organizes a parent-teacher conference to share with parents the latest strategies for further studies, remind parents of the points to note during interviews at prestigious elementary school, and respond to the standardized answers to the questions asked by elementary school examiners.
Our school places great importance on home-school collaboration, especially two-way communication, such as parent-teacher conferences, workshops, parent-child trips, classroom observations, Christmas dances, parties, weekly announcements, monthly growth reports, etc., so as to allow them to effectively continue their children's learning and growth at home. Parents can also communicate with the Direct School through letters, phone calls, emails, faxes, and appointments with teachers or administrators.
