Program Planning
Based on the school's mission and goals, the school has developed a curriculum that incorporates the school's SJS philosophy of Stimulate Joy Sustain: "A child's wisdom is at the tip of his fingers." The school encourages children to learn from life and to apply it to their lives. The school breaks down the walls of the classrooms so that children are not limited by space and become the masters of the school, choosing classrooms, teachers, peers and activities on their own initiative.Sustain: "Out of school, into the community. The school takes children to experience different cultures and builds a platform for children's sustainable development and social integration.
The school implements a special school-based curriculum - the "Project-based Learning" teaching mode, choosing themes that are close to life. There are no teaching materials in the curriculum, and children's interest in the themes is triggered by picture books. Through observation, experience, sharing and data collection activities, children construct knowledge, develop skills, establish good living habits and correct values through exploration, and the school arranges a site visit for each theme, with the final presentation of the children's learning outcomes. The school keeps a record of each child's learning process and work to help them develop in a sustainable manner. The school emphasizes language education and is committed to the implementation of biliteracy and trilingualism, providing children with an "immersive" trilingual environment, with biliterate and trilingual teachers at each grade level creating life-oriented activities to enable children to "learn" language naturally from their daily lives. The school aims to nurture children in the spirit of Christian care and emphasizes the development of spiritual and moral education. Through religious activities and children's worship, the children learn the truth of the Heavenly Father in many ways and bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
A "Personal Learning Experience Assessment Profile" is created for the children, using continuous and summative assessment to help parents understand the children's development in various aspects of school.
The school will comply with theKindergarten Education Curriculum GuidelinesThe (2017) Planning Curriculum will not require children in nursery classes to write in pen and pencil, nor will they be required to do mechanical transcription or drill-based numeracy exercises.
