Classroom teaching model:
The school implements small class teaching and adopts diversified interactive learning strategies. Adapted teaching is implemented at each grade level to focus on students' learning needs, streaming students according to their learning needs, setting challenging and specific learning targets, adapting the curriculum, learning and layered assignments, and adopting a diversified assessment mode to enhance students' learning effectiveness at different levels.
Placement in classes:
Primary 1 is divided into equal classes, Primary 2 to 3 are each divided into two classes with higher autonomy, and the rest are divided into equal classes. Primary 4 to 6 will be fully adapted to the needs of the students. Classes will be allocated according to the students' learning needs, and the curriculum and assignments will be adapted to suit the needs of the students. Through the organization of theme-based counseling activities, we cultivate a growth mindset, deepen the positive campus culture, and inspire the potential of our students to build a life of autonomy and perseverance.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
1. The school implements specialized teaching and develops school-based learning modules to consolidate students' subject knowledge.
2. The RWI English Phonics Program is implemented in P.1 to P.3, and the English Advanced Reading and Writing Program is implemented in P.4 to P.6 to develop students' biliteracy and trilingualism. To provide a diversified English curriculum in the afternoon to enhance students' confidence in the use of English.
3. P.2 to P.3 Chinese Language is taught in Putonghua and Putonghua Pinyin is taught using the Two-Spelling Pinyin Scheme to enhance communication skills. P.1, P.4 to P.6 Chinese Language is taught in Cantonese with the application of higher-order thinking strategies to deepen language learning.
4. Progressive assessment in each major subject to promote learning and teaching effectiveness. To set up an Academic Competency Follow-up Program after the summative assessment to provide feedback and enhance effectiveness. Introduce self-directed learning strategies to stimulate students' learning motivation and mastery of learning methods to enhance effectiveness.
Life-wide Learning:
School activities include basketball, handball, track and field, badminton, gymnastics, taekwondo, handbells, percussion, wind music, violin, choir, recorder, school reporters, Chinese painting, calligraphy, elementary and junior high school scouting, leadership training, service learning, field trips, out-of-country trips, gifted and talented classes, art groups, Math and arithmetic, and more. We also have a fellowship time on Saturdays for students to learn the truth.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
1. Weekly peer lesson planning meetings are held for each subject to develop leveled learning materials and assignments for each class at each level, and to diagnose the learning status using modular progressive assessment. 2. Whole-grade differentiated teaching and streaming of English language teaching are conducted in P.4 to P.6. 3. Diversified e-assessment tools are introduced in each subject for real-time follow up. 4. Tutorials are organized in classroom periods to allow subject teachers to follow up on students' learning in a timely manner. 5. Training for gifted and talented teams is conducted. 6. Training for gifted and talented school teams, e.g., Olympiad, Science and Technology Exploration, Physical Education and Arts Specialty Training, etc.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to its admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning on a need basis, group/group learning, etc.); organizing inclusive school activities; employing additional staff and/or procuring additional translation/interpretation services to facilitate communication with parents; and the school providing additional support (e.g. pull-out/group learning, phonics teaching materials, etc.) as necessary in the implementation of universal education across the board (i.e. all classes/groups) in some grades of the school.
Home school cooperation:
