The school emphasizes the whole-person development of students and actively promotes a caring campus and a happy learning environment. Through evangelization activities, students are able to realize the spirit of the school motto "Self-improvement", to cultivate students' character in a holistic manner, and to put into practice the five core values, civic awareness and positive values of the Catholic school.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
According to the "School-based Independent Learning Competency Framework", the school systematically organizes a balanced school-based curriculum that meets the needs of students, and develops the five competencies of information technology (IT), note-taking, thinking, reading and studying. With the interlocking planning of lessons, task design and assessment, students of different learning types can apply appropriate strategies to organize and consolidate what they have learnt in the classroom. In each subject, there is a "Fun Time" to enable students to enjoy learning through lively and practical lessons. To enhance students' thinking and organizational skills, the school has implemented the "Kokang E Corps Scheme" to encourage students to use complete sentences and "self-interrogation" in the classroom of each subject. In the "Kokang E Corps Scheme - The Best and the Brightest", there is an award related to organizational skills in each subject to reward students who have excelled in reading aloud, repetition, etc. The school has also set up an "Organizational Skills Award" in the "Kokang E Corps Scheme - The Best and the Brightest" in the "Kokang E Corps Scheme - The Brightest and the Brightest".
Life-wide Learning:
Grades 1-6 have a full range of tours and other extracurricular activities including: fencing, roller hockey, taekwondo, dance, rope skipping, ping pong, soccer, basketball, track and field, math and Olympiad, STEM group, Dogs Talking to Dogs, choir, scouting, Pioneers for Christ, Traffic Safety Team, Caring Troopers, computer class, ink painting, hand bells, and recitation.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
School-based curriculum, general education Chinese and English mathematics and life-wide learning are provided in each subject to achieve excellence and remediation. Gifted and Talented Programs, Homework and Test Adjustment are provided to cater for students with special learning needs.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; organizing inclusive school activities; and providing additional support (e.g. pull-out/group learning, Pinyin teaching materials, etc.) as necessary in the implementation of Putonghua education across the board for all grades (i.e., all classes/groups) in the school.
Home school cooperation:
Parent-child communication is strengthened through various activities.
