We have adopted the "Integrated Discipline and Counseling" approach to implement comprehensive school-based counseling, employing professional social workers to handle and plan various tasks and activities. We have also set up homework guidance groups and elite leadership training groups to cater for individual differences. A Primary One Induction Program is offered at the beginning of the school year to help students integrate into school life as soon as possible.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
Students develop creativity, problem-solving and communication skills through Positive Education, Eco-Garden Program, Skills Classes, Multi-Learning Classes, Out-of-Country Exchange Activities, Etiquette Program and Primary 6 Career Planning Program. Classroom design emphasizes the training of higher-order thinking skills, catering for student differences, and cooperative learning.
Life-wide Learning:
There are more than 70 Multiple Intelligences (MI) activities, including Chinese Dance, Drum Corps, Orchestra, Drama, Soft Hockey, Badminton, Swimming, Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, Cheerleading, Fancy Rope Skipping, Cycling, Chinese Music, and English activities, etc., and some of them are taught by professional instructors.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
Small class teaching is practiced throughout the school, and classrooms are equipped with electronic whiteboards or large-sized TVs with touch-screen, which enable interactive teaching methods to help students learn more effectively.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: additional teachers/teaching assistants are recruited to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; inclusive school activities are organized; and additional support (e.g. pull-outs/group learning, Pinyin teaching materials, etc.) is provided on a need basis in the implementation of Putonghua teaching across the board for some of the grades in the school (i.e. for all classes/groups).
