School Wind:
To fulfill the teaching of the school motto, the school adopts the core values of Catholic education (Truth, Life, Justice, Love and Family) as its scripture and the method of unity in discipline and guidance as its latitude. Every year, the school has an annual theme of student growth, which is combined with religious activities, amicable service, all-round counseling activities, and service learning, etc., in order to cultivate the spirit of students to love the Lord and to commit themselves to serving others.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
Each lesson lasts 35 minutes, with a 20-minute "Morning Reading" period in the morning, extracurricular activities on Wednesdays, and "Playing with Wisdom" Multiple Intelligences (MI) lessons on Fridays, as well as various extracurricular activities after school. The school implements small class teaching and teaches Chinese in Putonghua in Primary 1. Through e-learning, flipped classroom, activity-based teaching, hands-on teaching and cooperative learning strategies, the school enhances individualized care for students, promotes classroom interactions, encourages brainstorming and hands-on learning, enhances the training of higher-order thinking, and facilitates self-directed learning; and arranges Life-wide Learning (LWL), Science Exploration (SES), Thematic Learning (TL), STEM, and Outdoor Visits (OV), and Educational Camps (EC). We also organize life-wide learning, science exploration, project learning, STEM, outdoor visits and education camps to enable students to achieve whole-person development through high participation, high presentation and high appreciation, and enhancement of self-confidence.
Life-wide Learning:
In addition to the regular curriculum, there are self-learning activities, Life-wide Learning Day, Outdoor Learning, Education Camp, Service Visit, Outside Learning, Uniformed Teams, Hypertherm and Moral Growth Seminars for each subject. Meanwhile, the school has implemented a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including Wednesday extra-curricular activities and after-school activity groups, to provide students with diversified opportunities to experience and develop their potentials.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
Continuously optimize the longitudinal and lateral curricula for students' learning needs and develop appropriate teaching, adaptation and remediation strategies.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; organizing inclusive school activities; and providing additional support (e.g. pull-out/group learning, Pinyin teaching materials, etc.) as necessary in the implementation of Putonghua teaching across the board for some of the grades in the school (i.e., for all classes/groups).
Home school cooperation:
The school's PTA has a well-established mechanism to work closely with the school to create an ideal learning environment and parent-child education for students.
