Classroom teaching model:
The school adopts a large class size of 30 students per class from P.2 to P.6 (starting from P.1 in the 23/24 school year, the school will implement small class teaching with 25 students per class on a yearly basis). In Years 3 to 6, higher ability students are grouped into one class, and in the remaining three classes, students are taught in separate classes (small group teaching) in Chinese, English and Mathematics.
Placement in classes:
To cater for the diversity of student learning, classes in Years 3 to 6 are organized according to academic results, with one higher ability class in each level and three mixed ability classes with small group teaching arrangements to cater for learner diversity. The remaining three classes are mixed ability classes with small group teaching arrangements to cater for learning diversity. Classes in Grade 1 are randomly organized and promoted to Grade 2 in the same class.

The school emphasizes the importance of character development and aims to cultivate the right values and attitudes in students. The Sunshine Award Program provides students with positive encouragement in various aspects, through which students can build up good habits and achieve self-improvement. The school encourages students to learn through service and to develop a sense of responsibility and commitment. The school's service teams include Leaders, Lunchtime Leaders, Boys and Girls Scouts, Cleaning Ambassadors, Sports Service Team, IT Team, Campus Service Team, Flag Bearers, and Big Sisters and Big Brothers Program.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
(1) Deploying lesson schedules to arrange thematic lectures or field trips, organizing specialist study days, artist-in-residence teacher-student programmes, English language days, etc.
(2) Encourage students to explore the pursuit of knowledge and realize their own potentials through physical actions, so that students can cultivate a positive outlook on life and the spirit of lifelong learning in an enjoyable atmosphere.
(3) Encourage students' self-evaluation. Through various activities, such as visits to elderly homes, adventure training, public performances by orchestras, etc., students can experience different learning experiences, thus enabling them to develop in a holistic manner.
(4) Collaborate with external organizations or tertiary institutions to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching and to promote student learning.
Life-wide Learning:
The school demonstrates learning outcomes through cross-curricular and thematic learning activities, such as concerts at the Cultural Center, English/STEAM/Visual Arts Carnival, and so on. There are more than 180 extra-curricular activities taught by professional instructors inside/outside the school, including the Orchestra (established in '94), Chinese Band (established in '02), Drum Corps (established in '03), Physical Education and Sports, STEM classes, Drama and Sculpture classes, and so on.
Course Tailoring and Adaptation Measures:
The school-based curriculum, gifted and talented curriculum and STEAM education curriculum are actively developed to enable students to realize their potential. To cater for the diversity of students' learning, learning groups are set up and adapted according to their needs.

The school's Parents' Association (P.A.) is committed to working with the school to nurture Shanghai's children to grow in love. The PTA organizes a variety of activities, such as parent-child trips, parent-child interest classes, and parent seminars. The PTA also recruits parent volunteers to help with school activities and cooperates with social welfare organizations in the district, such as donating scarves, so that people outside the school can also feel the love of Shanghai.
Environmental Policy:
1) To incorporate environmental education elements in line with the curriculum and learning activities; 2) To apply for environmental funds from the government and external organizations to build a green campus, e.g. solar panel power generation system; 3) To participate in environmental education activities organized by government departments and green groups to enhance students' environmental awareness, e.g. Water Conservation Academy; and 4) To participate in the Student Environmental Protection Ambassador Scheme to practise what they preach and promote environmental protection activities on campus.
