The Government is committed to teaching in the mother tongue but emphasizes the importance of biliteracy and trilingualism in training:

  • Cantonese is the primary language of instruction, including non-Chinese speaking students.
  • The Chinese Language subject from S1 to S6 is taught in both Putonghua and Cantonese, including non-Chinese speaking students.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The School is committed to building an inclusive culture and adopting a Whole School Approach to support students with special educational needs (SEN). Through the deployment of resources and flexible use of resources, appropriate and diversified support services are provided to enhance students' learning effectiveness and facilitate their integration into school life. The Student Support Team consists of the Deputy Principal, the SEN Co-ordinator, the Academic Officer, the Guidance Officer, the Social Worker, the Educational Psychologist and the Teaching Assistant. Use of Learning Support Grant to employ additional student counselors; outsourcing of professional services (e.g. speech therapy and social skills training); after-school and pre-test homework help classes. The school provides learning, homework and test accommodations to cater for learning differences, invites parents to attend Individual Learning Plan (ILP) meetings, and understands and helps design concrete and feasible support plans. The school emphasizes home-school cooperation and has established a regular mechanism to discuss and review strategies for supporting students with parents through different channels.

The school provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; and organizing cultural integration activities. The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
