Learning and Teaching Strategies :
We emphasize the balanced development of moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual education, and train students' analytical and independent judgment skills through diversified teaching methods. Students are encouraged to respect teachers and to develop a sense of social responsibility and a spirit of service. In order to fulfill the principle of "teaching according to the ability of the student", the curriculum is adapted to the needs and characteristics of students, and "heterogeneous teaching" is gradually implemented to cater for students with different abilities and learning styles in a holistic manner. The "Life-wide Learning Program" is implemented to enable students to learn happily and effectively outside the classroom. Self-directed learning is also implemented in all major subjects to enable students to set up their own learning plans according to their own learning progress.
Teacher professional training and development:
To plan training activities, encourage professional exchanges and facilitate teachers' professional development in line with the latest development of the Government's education policy. The school participates in the Joint School Network organized by the Education Bureau and school sponsoring bodies to enhance teachers' professionalism and build up professional learning communities. The school implemented positive education and participated in the Positive Education Workshop organized by the City University of Hong Kong this year to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to initiate positive education. This year, the school participated in the Blended Education "Flipped Teaching" Project and the School-based Support Program of the Education Bureau. We also participated in the "School Initiative Project", a joint teacher development day organized by the Hong Kong University of Education, which enabled teachers to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the areas of curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, and encouraging students to develop in a diversified manner. Collegial lesson observation and lesson planning were promoted throughout the school, and systematic lesson observation continued to be practiced in this school year, with the focus on "catering for students' learning diversity" through differentiated teaching. The school has also arranged teachers to enroll in courses related to integrated education to enhance their professional capacity in supporting students with special educational needs.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The School adopts a "Whole School Approach" in the implementation of IE, and has set up a Student Support Team (comprising the Deputy Principal, the Special Education Co-ordinator and Support Teachers, the Educational Psychologist, the Social Worker, the Speech Therapist, the Convenor of the Key Learning Areas, the Discipline and Counseling Officers, etc.) to support students with special educational needs (SEN). The school works closely with the Education Bureau, educational psychologists, social workers and other professionals to conduct regular individual meetings and student assessments. Parents are invited to participate in meetings and workshops to jointly develop individual learning plans for students and regularly review the effectiveness of the plans, so as to equip parents with the skills to take care of and teach their children effectively.
Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:
The School provides additional support to admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning on a need basis, group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; and organizing cultural integration activities.
