Founded in 1926, the school's former students and parents have always been a strong pillar of our school. Teachers and students work together to achieve excellence. "King's Boy has always been known for its discipline, hard work and strong sense of belonging. The Guidance Committee, the Student Support Team, the School Social Worker and a team of caring teachers all work together to provide students with excellent care and attention. The school also encourages hard work and mutual help among students. Outside of school hours, the school organizes homework tutorial classes for senior students, peer tutoring activities for flowerless children, and a variety of after-school activities led by former students in order to perpetuate the spirit of King's College, enhance the sense of brotherhood among students, and cultivate students' leadership and communication skills.

Learning and Teaching Strategies :

  1. To implement a student-centered approach to teaching and learning by designing different learning activities and encouraging students to learn interactively;

Teacher professional training and development:

The school focuses on helping teachers broaden their horizons and raise their awareness of the senior secondary curriculum. In addition to the three-day Teacher Development Day each year, the school also organizes professional development activities to help teachers gain a better understanding of the teaching strategies and education reform. In addition, teachers are encouraged to share their experiences at subject and school meetings, participate in teacher networks and attend experience sharing seminars. In the past few years, individual subjects (e.g. Chinese Language and Liberal Studies) have participated in the EDB's School-based Support Program to design and develop their own school-based curricula, thereby enhancing the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The school adopts a whole-school approach in implementing integrated education and has set up a student support team comprising an Integrated Education Officer, a counseling team teacher, a school social worker and a school-based educational psychologist to support students with special educational needs (SEN). In terms of learning support, the school arranges appropriate teaching and various assessment adjustments for students with special educational needs to facilitate their learning. In addition, the school also encourages teachers to actively participate in various SEN-related training courses and adopt different learning and teaching strategies to cater for individual differences. Through the flexible use of the Learning Support Grant, the school organizes different support activities and training (e.g. social skills training group, emotion management group, speech therapy service, positive thinking workshop, emotional training workshop for bi-polar gifted students and development of Individualized Learning Plans) to help students grow up in different aspects. In order to help students grow in all aspects of their lives, the school has organized a series of home-school co-operation programs. To strengthen home-school cooperation, the school meets with parents regularly to follow up on students' performance and discuss the implementation of relevant support measures. In addition, the school organizes various inclusive activities for all students (e.g. Inclusion Ambassador Scheme and various social service activities) to create an inclusive atmosphere in the school.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The School provides additional support to admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: providing after-school Chinese learning support; employing additional teachers/teaching assistants to support NCS students' Chinese language learning; arranging intensive Chinese teaching modes (e.g. pull-out learning on a need basis, group learning, etc.); developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting teaching materials; and organizing cultural integration activities.

Other:

  • Students performed well in both academic and non-academic areas. In the 2022 HKDSE Examination, the overall performance of the students was outstanding, with Mr. Kam Chung Hin achieving outstanding results in 7 subjects with 5**. Mr. Sung Yan Yu, Mr. Lo Siu Hin and Mr. So Pak Hin also performed well and obtained 5** in 5 subjects. The number of students admitted to local undergraduate programs through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) reached 82.81%.
  • In the area of scientific research, Mr. Choi Kan, Mr. Cheung Ka Shing, Mr. Chan Chun Kiu, Mr. Fung Tin Yau and Mr. Wong Man Ki won the Gold Medal in the 7th Canadian International Invention and Innovation Competition 2022 and the Champion in the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2022.
  • Students also excelled in the field of science and technology. Mr. Choi Kan, Mr. Cheung Ka Shing, Mr. Chan Chun Kiu, Mr. Fung Tin Yau and Mr. Wong Man Ki won the Gold Award in the Greater Bay Area STEM Excellence Awards 2022 (Hong Kong). In addition, students Pang Chi Chung, Lau Kit Fai and Lau Pak Hei won the second place in the Student Hackathon organized by the British Council and the Digital Preparatory Academy. In addition, Mr. Yip Hin Yui won the Merit Award in the 17th Hong Kong-Macau Youth Cyber Skills Competition 2021.
  • Students also excelled in music and drama. In the 74th Inter-school Music Festival, the school won 3 championships, 5 first runner-ups and 8 second runner-ups. In addition, students Ma Tze Hong and Wong Pui Wing won the Outstanding Performer Award in the Hong Kong Schools Drama Festival 2021/2022.
  • In the 73rd Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, students won 4 Championships, 5 Runners-up and 6 Runners-up in English Speech. In addition, they also won 2 Championships and 4 Runner-ups in Chinese Speech.
  • In sports, Lin Yuhong won a gold medal and a silver medal in the Inter-school Swimming Competition.
  • The school emphasizes the whole-person development of its students. Mr. Han Boon Ting was awarded the Hong Kong Island Outstanding Student Award in the Senior Secondary Section and Mr. Lui Kwan Lung was awarded the Outstanding Student Award in the Junior Secondary Section.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
