Learning and Teaching Strategies :
The design of the school curriculum emphasizes the consolidation of students' basic knowledge, the development of generic skills, and the cultivation of students' correct values and attitudes. The teaching design adopts an inquiry learning mode, encouraging students to actively ask questions and participate in discussions in class to construct knowledge. Meanwhile, in order to provide students with more appropriate education according to their different situations, the school participated in the Quality School Improvement Program of The Chinese University of Hong Kong this year. Through seminars, collaborative lesson planning and peer lesson observation, the school enhances the ability of teachers to take care of learning differences. The school also provides students with life-wide learning opportunities to extend, promote and broaden what they have learned in the classroom, and to develop their multi-competency.
In addition, all subjects use tablet computers or different online learning platforms (e.g. Schoology and HKEdCity's online examination platform) for e-learning or mobile learning both inside and outside the classroom to support students' self-learning and extension activities, and to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching. Starting from the 2021-2022 school year, the school will gradually install electronic whiteboards in all classrooms to enhance the interaction between teachers and students in the classroom, so as to improve the effectiveness of learning. The BYOD policy has also been implemented from the 21st to 22nd school years, starting from Form One.
Teacher professional training and development:
In response to the demands of the curriculum reform and to encourage teachers to pursue continuous learning, the school organizes Teacher Professional Development Days to strengthen training for teachers in response to the concerns of the school. Teachers are also encouraged to participate in various training courses and activities organized by external organizations to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
A Student Support Team was set up in the 2008-09 school year for the implementation of integrated education. Apart from teachers from different committees and language teachers, members of the team include educational psychologists, speech therapists, school social workers and learning support teaching assistants. Members of the team have completed relevant training and utilized the Learning Support Grant to design school-based support programmes for students to help students with different learning needs to master the curriculum. In addition, in order to provide students with appropriate and quality professional support, the school will use the Learning Support Grant to purchase services from external organizations to design individual and group activities for students in need. Meanwhile, in the spirit of home-school cooperation, the team invites parents to participate in meetings to develop individual learning plans for students with SEN and regularly review the effectiveness of the plans, and arranges workshops for parents to help them take care of and teach their children more effectively.
