- S1 students are divided into two groups according to their results in English in the Hong Kong Attainment Test (HKAT): one group adopts English as the medium of instruction for general academic subjects (with the exception of Chinese History, History, and Life and Social Studies); the other group adopts English as the medium of instruction for English Language, Science, and Geography, and teaches the key modules of Mathematics in English.
- S2 students are re-grouped into two groups according to their S1 results and are taught in the appropriate medium of instruction according to their ability and subject characteristics.
- In order to help students learn through English, the school actively creates an English learning atmosphere on campus. The school emphasizes the establishment of a caring culture based on biblical truths and the school motto of "Faith, Hope and Love" to build up the lives of students. The school has a simple atmosphere and a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, which is well received by parents in the area. Students are nurtured by the school in their appearance, speech, behavior, and mindset. Outside the classroom, teachers have close contact with students, such as devotional groups, lunchtime gatherings, hiking, after-school counseling, etc. They seize every opportunity to get in touch with students and build up a friendship with them as teachers and friends.
Learning and Teaching Strategies :
The School and Teaching Committee (STC) leads the e-Learning Section and the Student Learning Section, which are dedicated to promoting teachers' teaching effectiveness and enhancing students' learning ability. The Committee provides leadership to all subjects in the promotion of teaching and learning, including the coordination of peer lesson observation and open classroom, etc. It is also responsible for the coordination of academic activities in various learning areas, such as the organization of diversified remedial courses and book fairs, etc., in order to enhance the academic atmosphere in the school. Organize professional development activities on Teacher Development Day and encourage teachers to attend professional development courses. The Collegial Lesson Observation Scheme was implemented to enhance the quality of teaching through classroom research, collaborative lesson planning, mutual lesson observation and post-lesson reflection.
Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:
The school adopts a whole-school approach to support students with special educational needs (SEN). Through the deployment of resources, the school provides appropriate and diversified support services to enhance students' learning effectiveness and facilitate their integration into the school campus. The Student Health and Support Team consists of the Deputy Principal, the SEN Co-ordinator, the Guidance Officer, the SEN Support Teacher, two social workers, the Educational Psychologist and the Teaching Assistant. The school flexibly utilizes the Learning Support Grant to employ additional SEN teachers and teaching assistants, and outsources professional support services, including interest groups to enhance concentration, social and emotional training groups, literacy groups, speech therapy, occupational therapy and after-school learning counseling, etc., to help students with special needs grow up. The school also arranges examination adaptations for students in need and assists students applying for public examinations to apply for corresponding adaptations so as to enhance the fairness of the examinations. In addition, the school organizes seminars, workshops, lunchtime table games and other activities to create an inclusive culture in the school. The school also arranges for teachers to receive special education training courses and participate in professional development activities, such as seminars and experience-sharing sessions, so as to enhance their professional competence in taking care of students with special education needs.
