Learning and Teaching Strategies :

The organization of the curriculum is based on a 12-year longitudinal framework. Learning is not limited to textbooks, and emphasis is placed on inquiry and problem-solving learning strategies. Diversified teaching and learning, with an inspirational and communicative approach, stimulates students' critical thinking and spirit of exploration, and induces them to care about global cultures. In recent years, the College has implemented "Individualized Learning" (ILE), which provides school-based teaching of the mainstream curriculum according to students' interests, personalities, learning preferences and abilities, and at the same time allows students to access different learning themes and experiences. The CASTLE Program (Creative Arts, Sports, Technology, and Life Education) is offered to students in S1 and S2;
There are Modular Studies for S3 students to learn about senior secondary elective subjects, and Thematic Studies for S4 and S5 students to learn about the optimization of the new senior secondary curriculum. The courses are all chosen by the students themselves so that they can be exposed to different possibilities outside the ordinary secondary school curriculum.

Teacher professional training and development:

Close liaison with the University of Hong Kong in planning on-the-job training for teachers, and implementation of measures such as mentorship, collaborative teaching, teaching sharing and lesson observation to provide a platform for teachers to sharpen their teaching skills.

Whole School Participation Model Integrated Education:

The school firmly believes that all students should have equal learning opportunities and a key to the success and importance of Integrated Education is the Whole School Approach (WSA). Since 2012, the school has set up an Inclusion and Gifted Education Team (IGE), which consists of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), experienced teachers of all subjects, the School Social Worker (SSW), Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) and Educational Psychologist (EP).

The focus of the team is on early identification, quality classroom teaching, support in all aspects of school life, and individualized support, as recommended by the Education Bureau's three-tiered model of support. With the strength of our one-stop-shop system and our close connection and communication with primary students and parents, we are able to better prepare and support our secondary students before the summer and the start of the secondary school year.

During the period of learning and living in the College, information on the special learning needs of individual students and teaching strategies will be shared confidentially with the relevant teachers and administrative departments so as to provide appropriate support for their daily learning. Depending on the needs of the students, different types of personal growth (e.g. social skills, literacy and executive functioning...) and career planning related courses will be arranged and the students will be invited to attend. During the assessment and examination period, special examination arrangements and related training (e.g. screen reader application) will also be provided for students in need.

Educational support for non-Chinese speaking students:

The School provides additional support to the admitted NCS students to help them learn Chinese: arranging intensive Chinese teaching mode (e.g. pull-out learning, small group learning, etc. on a need basis); organizing cultural integration activities; and providing additional support (e.g. pull-out/group learning, pinyin teaching materials, etc.) as needed in the implementation of Putonghua teaching across the board for some of the grades in the School (i.e. for all classes/groups). Chinese Adaptation Program, Chinese Language Tutorial Classes for the Diploma of Secondary Education Examination and International Examinations, and Career Guidance Activities for Further Studies, etc.

The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
Parents may refer to the "Handbook on Application for Secondary One Discretionary Places", or visitEducation Bureau(https://www.edb.gov.hk/) or call: 2891 0088 for a list of schools through the Education Bureau's automated telephone enquiry system.
Parents can submit applications in paper form or through the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) e-Platform. Once an application is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn, canceled or changed.

Parents are advised to consider two important factors when choosing a school for their children: their children's abilities and the characteristics of the preferred school.

You can communicate with your child's subject teachers to learn more about your child's abilities. For the characteristics of the target school, you may refer to the "Profile of a Secondary School" issued by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation to understand the school's philosophy, language of instruction, religion, class structure, etc. You may also refer to the "School Profile" issued by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation to learn more about the school's philosophy, language, religion and class structure.Visit the school's webpage on this websiteThis is because our information is also collected from theSecondary School OverviewThe school's website and information about the school on the internet, including the schools' Youtube Channels.

We believe that as long as we choose suitable schools according to the abilities of our children, we will make them happy to learn and enjoy going to school, which will be most helpful to their studies.

Parents can only apply for a maximum of two participating secondary schools for their children. Note: Applications for Discretionary Places from more than two secondary schools, whether submitted in paper form or through the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) e-platform, will be considered invalid.
There is no district restriction on the application for discretionary places and parents can choose target secondary schools across districts.

The content of these secondary schools is produced by "CharaBox", which aims to provide basic information about secondary schools in Hong Kong to facilitate parents to choose their favorite target secondary schools.Secondary School OverviewIf you find any inaccuracies or improvements in the information on this website, please contact us at [email protected].
