1. The medium of instruction (MOI) policy for junior secondary schools emphasizes the training of students to adapt to the use of English as the medium of instruction in senior secondary schools. Starting from the 2022/23 school year, Mathematics and Integrated Science will be taught in English in all S1 classes, while Geography, Computing, Life and Society will be taught in English in some classes; even for academic subjects, handouts will be distributed in English.

The school makes flexible use of the Learning Support Grant and other internal and external resources to provide diversified support for students with SEN, including social training groups, group and individual counseling, and after-school learning counseling. We also take care of students' learning differences through curriculum design, diversified teaching strategies, optimized tiered assignments, homework and test adaptation, etc., so as to enhance the learning effectiveness of students with special educational needs.

Besides, the Unit also provides Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for students with more severe learning, emotional and social difficulties. In order to identify students with special educational needs (SEN) at an early stage, the school has set up a referral mechanism and works closely with professionals such as the Education Bureau (EDB) and the School-based Educational Psychologists (SBEPS) to conduct regular individual meetings and student assessments. The school emphasizes on home-school cooperation and has established a regular communication mechanism with parents through student support summaries, face-to-face interviews and e-platforms to discuss and review the support strategies and effectiveness of the students. The Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System consists of two phases: Discretionary Places Allocation (DP) and Central Allocation (CA).
Discretionary places refer to S1 places reserved by schools for self-admission of students. Government, aided and caput secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places not exceeding 30%, while DSS secondary schools are allowed to reserve S1 places exceeding 30%.
The application period for the 2024 Discretionary Places is from January 2 to January 16, 2024. All secondary schools participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System (participating secondary schools) will accept applications during the same period. Parents of current Primary 6 students participating in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) will receive two copies of the Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places in early December 2023 through their children's elementary school.
