Program Planning
Based on children's physical and mental development, the program uses contextual storytelling and manipulative play to develop children's developmental potential in six areas from a simple to a deeper level, fostering children's learning abilities in language, mathematics, arts and creativity, physical fitness and health, individual and group, and nature and life, as well as extending the thematic studies and designing activities to match children's learning interests.
Theme-based and activity-based teaching, through site visits, project-based learning and design activities, gives children more opportunities for active exploration and interactive learning, and inspires their thinking and group development. Children develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills through observation, self-exploration and analysis in science experiments, mathematical cognition, reading books together, reading English/Putonghua/Cantonese children's songs, story-telling, sharing of life experiences, group activities, and presentations in design activities, which can enhance children's interests in language, moral education, emotions, socialization, physical fitness, music, arts and creativity and enrich children's life experiences and self-confidence. It also promotes children's interests in language, moral education, social, emotional, physical, music, art and creative activities, enriching children's life experience and self-confidence; "Free Play" is implemented to promote independent learning and creative development of children; and "Character Education" is implemented to cultivate children's good morals through a variety of activities in line with the Catholic teachings.
Continuous observation and summative assessment are used to record children's learning performance objectively, analyze children's development and learning effectiveness in various aspects, and build up a file of children's learning history to fully demonstrate children's overall development.
The school will comply with theKindergarten Education Curriculum GuidelinesThe (2017) Planning Curriculum will not require children in nursery classes to write in pen and pencil, nor will they be required to do mechanical transcription or drill-based numeracy exercises.
